OK, OK, OK, Shit happened. everybody wants to get online talking all this shit "i miss the good old days when people would get smacked in the mouth for saying stupid shit" so now somebody ACTUALLY gets smacked in their mouth for saying some stupid shit, and everybody wants to clutch their pearls like a bunch of bitches!! everybody wants to yell shit like "he's emotionally unstable" they want to cry "toxic masculinity" and people ant to flip flop over the mans duality. the SAME DUALITY WE ALL HAVE AS HUMANS. just because he slapped that man for disrespecting his wife, he cant love some one else? he cant protect and destroy at the same time? is this what you're telling me? so because he wants to be that "vessel of love" he has to tolerate the blatant disrespect and degradation of his family?

now lets not get it twisted. a lot of the same shit he got tired of he and (mainly) his wife put out there for public consumption. this is what happens when you're in the public eye, and yes when you're in the public eye you SHOULD be held at a slightly higher standard, but you are STILL human. we get it. and the BAREST ESSENCE a man said some slick shit about another mans wife, and shit got dealt with and it all happened in a VERY public way.
and IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT GOES ON IN THIER MARRIAGE!! I don't care if they are both cheating, if they are swingin, if they are rubbing each other with raw steaks dressed up as Elmo, spanking each other with large mouth bass while singing the soundtrack to Hamilton, THEY ARE STILL LIVING AS MAN AND WIFE AND SHOULD BE RESPECTED AS SUCH!!if he's says "hey his is my wife" then you respect that, PERIOD. if you think he's whipped, or a simp or whatever, keep that shit to yourself. if she is going through some medical shit, you do not get on the BIGGEST PLATFORM IN THE WORLD and joke about it. and these men knew each other for over 30 fuckin years. if ANYBODY would have known "maybe this is not the shit to say at THIS time" it would be Chris Rock. he is a MASTER at his craft, and would know better. but its always the ones that are the closest to you that will take the most liberties.

we all pick and choose what we say and we all pick and choose what we react to. ill be the FIRST to admit im all over the place with it. i have personally caught a case over someone saying something slick about my wife and me breaking their jaw. so yeah im on that time. lol cause i feel like Chris would NOT have said anything slick like that to Denzel, Sam Jackson or anyone else in that audience like that but since he knew Will for as long as he did he felt comfortable with it like Will was some kind of mark. now on the flip side i dont think Will would have ran up on that stage if the Rock, Or Mike Tyson Or Michael Jai White, or Wesley Snipes cracked that same joke...

at the end of the day this NEEDED to happen. people NEEDED to see that there are STILL consequences for actions. that yes there are still men that get tired of peoples shit, and that will smack you in the mouth for saying some slick shit. now I'm pretty sure that these 2 men will work this shit out sooner or later and shit will get back to normal and well all get back to crackin on Kanye or Jussie Smmollet or some shit (even though this Kanye shit is JUST AS SERIOUS)

but this is for all those keyboard commandos, armchair champions, twitter thugs, gravy seals (meal team six) members out there thinking shit is sweet behind their screens at home talking shit to people and just folks in general. there are STILL people out here that believe that there are and should be consequences for your actions. you learn this shit the first day in science class. for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction (Newtons Third Law) it doesn't REALLY apply, but it does lol. you say some slick shit, some shit may happen because of the slick shit you say...
Nobody should have to face getting physically assaulted for doing their job. For doing what they were paid to be there for.
The first amendment exists for a very good reason, the response to words isnt and should never be violence, it should be more words.
Its when communication breaks down and people resort to base emotions, yes we are all human, that we resort to violence.

If this was going to be handled it should have been done backstage, and Will certainly shouldnt have been allowed to stay at the event after assaulting a colleague, let alone allowed to receive an award and praise and enjoy the afterparty. How Will hasnt been arrested is a mystery to me. "Should be consequences for their actions" - like you say.

An equal and opposite reaction to words is counter words, not punches or slaps to the face. Thats an escalation of energy.

Cracks me up the more you think about it. In what event ever can you physically assault someone then return to your seat and carry on enjoying the event.
If it was a member of the public they would of been tackled to the ground and escorted out immediately
exactly

I really felt for Chris after he took the slap, Will had his little verbal outburst. And Chris was just up there, stunned, everywhere he looked, there was no support, he was just stuck there on stage, with a sore face, trying to come to terms with wtf just actually happened in front of the world. Ironically a world that wouldnt have been watching had it not happened.

First amendment protects free speech from consequences from the government. Period. Words still have consequences. Smacking people as well.

smacking people has consequences, if Will had stepped up to slap me for doing my job, Id have responded very differently.
Like @Dj Iceman said, "every action has an EQUAL and opposite reaction"

technically, Chris had every right to shoot Will in self defense.

No man. I am a gun owner but this shit makes me sick.

So by your logic, words can be responded to with violence, but violence cant be responded to with violence?
If Chris' only way of defending himself is with a gun then Will's getting shot. Thats why the 2nd amendment is the second amendment, because it protects the first.

I said words have consequences as well as smacking people. I didn't say smacking poeple is okay. But only fuckboys would respond to one smack in the face with a gun.

Some people arent built for fighting. Often a great sense of humour comes from being bullied, and finding humour as a way to protect yourself from being beaten up all the time. Thats why in the USA they are allowed to carry guns to protect themselves from people who think its okay to physically assault them for hurting their feelings.
That same law allows women to protect themselves from rapists, and old people a chance from those that prey on the vulnerable.

I am not built for fighting but still no one should have the right to shoot somebody if it is not a life or death situation. And a smack from Will Smith at the Oscars is not life threatening.

If that slap had hit Chris wrong and dislocated or broke his jaw, would that be okay? If Chris attacked Will Smith back and they had a brawl resulting in possibly one of them being seriously hurt, all on live tv, would that be a line crossed? If one of them got punched and put in a coma, later to die, would that have been okay? At what point is the line of physical assault, physical assault? Or "life threatening"?
Heat of the moment events and mistakes that lead to horrible outcomes happen in split seconds. Chris didnt even realise he was going to get a slap until it actually happened. Chris was by far the bigger man for taking it how he did and not retaliating.

How would you respond to being bitch slapped on live tv in front of the world?

The whole thing is odd. The three of them have been friends for years, so jokes like that, whether offensive or not, are okay with friends (unless one of them is super uptight). It's like guys giving their guy friends dick punches - totally acceptable. But if some random dude tries to punch my junk, fuck no. Okay maybe that's a bad analogy, but you get my point.

Anyway, there's this:

Jada strikes me as a very narcissistic individual. I think Will was always one of the good guys, narcissists latch onto good guys and grind them down. (I say this from experience). I think this whole outburst is the result of years of public humiliation of Will by Jada. He finally snapped and did something to prove his manhood. Its such a shame that it came on the night he won an Oscar, taking the limelight off that and all the other people who won an Oscar that night(we might not care much, but they do), I dont know who won what, but everybody knows Will slapped Chris.

That's how generations of community violence plays out e.g. dudes shooting someone for staring at and/or talking to their woman, dudes shooting someone for stepping on their shoes, etc. aka dumb shit in the name of "manhood."

if Jada never had a look of extreme anger on her face making Will feel the need to defend her honour even though she has shat all over his, then maybe they all would have taken it for the joke it was, Will could have bathed in the glory of his Oscar and enjoyed it without it being overshadowed by a moment of hurt feelings overcoming sense, making a mockery of the whole night.
