Any Turntable Recomendations both for Sampling + Final Scratch?

thanks guys- I ended up getting the Numark TT-200's for christmas and they seem pretty nice. I haven't gotten to actually use them yet though because I found out I needed a cartridge (dumb) and pre-amp... soon though, can't wait to get my hands dusty!

Can I sample from Turntables without a Phono Preamp?

I just got a Numark TT-200 Turntable for Christmas, with the intent of using it to sample some old records I had laying around and to mess around with scratching. Much to my chagrin, I found that apparently I need a "Phono Preamp" to connect the Turntable to the line-in on my M-Audio Firewire...

Assigning Chops in the Live Sampler

Another option is to chop the samples and drag each slice to a different clip (set each of these to "gate" if you want to them to play for as long as you hold the note, and you may need to turn quantizing off for each clip too), then assign each clip to whichever midi note you want by using the...

    Recording

I'm gonna skip the snide comments and actually answer your question - in the "session view" (the one with vertical columns of clips) click on the second box beneath "Audio From" for the track you want (it should say 1/2 right now), then select either 1 or 2 (you'll either get no input at all or...

Waves Bundle With Ableton Live 5

Yeah, I have the Waves Platinum bundle and all the plugins work great so far. I agree, Waves sounds way nicer than the built-in effects. I didn't think I'd be able to notice until I triad going through an old mix and replacing all the Live effects with Waves effects, all i can say is damn

    How many hardcore Ableton users?

Hell yeah! I just noticed they created this section, I've been a hardcore Live fan for about 3 years now, after moving on from Reason (I still use it to rewire). There is just so much crazy stuff you can do with it, it blows my mind... I use it to make mashups, DJing, and of course as my main...

Any Turntable Recomendations both for Sampling + Final Scratch?

Are there any turntables out there that I can use to sample records from for my beats AND control an MP3 DJing program (eg scratching MP3's)? Whats the best one? I'm looking for something around $200. I just got a ton of old vinyl from my uncle and I want to start sampling, but I also want...

    Why no Live 6 Forum?

i vote yes on the live forum. the program is sweet for messing with samples and remixing stuff, because you can warp the timing of any sample in any way possible.

Equipment used for making underground hip hop beats

"RJD2: I use an MPC 2000XL and two 1200 turntables. That's all you need. That's what I used to make Deadringer on. I'm not computer literate. So I don't fuck with ProTools or anything." damn. thats like one of my favourite albums- wish i had an mpc. i wonder if he had to clear all the samples...

    compression.hardware or software

whats the difference in sound between all the different hardware and software compressors? is it really noticable to the average listener or just nitpicky. like, will there be a huge difference between the sound of the reason masterclass compressor and the waves c1 compessor?

When is it time to call it enough?

yeah, i agree with above if you have too many different instruments running at once, take a bunch out, then drop them back in at different times of the song... you might never have them all playing simultaneously but they all can contribute to the complexity without making it cluttered if you do...
