I guest first, congrats lil bro.

Great sample choice, feel like it's just a winning sample by default - where you get it from?
But what I really liked were these overly flabby drums - this was in my top 3 (was actually the first beat I heard and I said "this is my winner already, I'm judging everything against this")

I voted for @Bandia Gotach = the main things I loved; the spooky main background sounds, painted a fucking perfect backdrop, sonically too. Big drums, but specifically that one beautifully late kick drum... make my soul drool. Going to backwards engineer that shit to check the timing. Exquisite

@Earsblower - sorry, absolute fucking heresy that this beat isn't in top 3; genuinely think this was possibly the best beat in the battle, Only thing missing is a vocal. It was one of several tracks I kinda 'toplined' to myself. Probably should have got my vote, but Bandia's big drums, spooky vibe and late kick bribed me.

To other observations...

@Bluebox really cool beat, musically. Got a solid vibe to it - if this had a great mix, probably be one of the 'coolest' beats on this battle. (i actually thought @feswaq beat was yours 'cause of the arcade vibes)

I was determined to find out who was the culprit of this. Your name and beat title is in full caps, and so is your mastering limiter. Wtf?

@oninkaf gave me Jay Z 'feelin it' vibes. Really laid back nice beat, great vocal chop too

@Jimulacrum - real interesting beat, bro. probably too 'intelligent' this time for the battle victory. I don't wanna call this your 'best' beat, cause they all really cool, but felt like something different from you in a good way. Not that it needs to be different cause the previous stuff cool too - didn't recognise your beat this time, when I saw your comment i was curious to find out which was yours

That's the way, bro --- I really miss my earliest beats. Some of them were truly the best/most creative beats I ever made, they just 'sucked' due to knowledge and experience. I don't feel any of my shit scratches the surface of how good some of them were.
Mixes tho are not even night and day, different dimension - you'd think I got abducted by advanced lifeforms and implanted with new abilities.

This was my thought (not that crog beats are boring), but that crog has such high production values, I'm just 'so used to hearing it'. There's a lot of genericness to trap, but crog has cool spin on things, but he's got the core production on lock.
That's why I always love when he sneaks in a non-trap beat here n there, high quality still but different vibe.

It think it's probably the equivalent of me posting my Dre style beats. I don't even dare anyone to cry compete with crog on trap.
Though the guy in 4th place had my preference on the trap today due to the 'song-like' feel to it.

@Iron Keys no bs, one of my favorite beats from you. maybe better than all ur battle that stuff. I love that it actually has character. that weird lead instrument is killing it. and the reverb, especially on the percs... REAL atmosphere. but I mean your mixes & production & consistency &... is always on point; this one actually is a unique yet still groovy beat. absolute W imo.

This beat was kinda dead imho. I tried force it a few hours before sign up.
I was in two minds about not submitting it at all - was pretty confident it wouldn't win, and only place if the other beats were shit.
I'm trying to make some other style I'm really enjoying lately - but my attempts, this one included, just for me ain't hitting like I need them to. I can't figure out why I can't get it down either; it's a musical thing, not prod/mix issue, and it's not that the music is complex either. This beat was like the 4th or 5th attempt, i felt all 5 were at best average, saved only by my mixing.

It's hard to describe. When that happens I tend to really listen to it a little deeper to hear what sets it apart from the other beats so I can decide if I'm going to vote for it or not.

I mean most "good" beats are, including a lot of your own work + some of my own shit that wins which I can't even wrap my head around how. this last one tho? both you & crog happened to sound genuinely interesting. could actually feel the emotions ur shit evoked rather than just boppin head yk.

I know what you mean - this is what I meant when I was speaking to Jimula-JimothyyMcveigh about earliest/first beats being mega cool and creative, then as you progress, your beats get boring but they are better/higher quality.

I'm trying to break free of my habits and try some other shit, shit that i should be able to do, but I feel like I'm struggling - almost feel like a newb picking random ass shit sounds. i'unno

It's why I always value Beat This as the better W --- people listen to 27 beats, but come back for your specific beat.

Sometimes it's because the beat cheesed it, but if you get a lot of votes in Beat This, your music is likely making an emotional connection with the listener; and that is fucking golden.
