    Midi Setup

Somebody who works good with MIDI please help me out. I got a friend in a band who does house/trance and he knows i make beats and all that so once in a while he'll come down with a triton or a microkorg or one of the new keys he got or borrowed and let me play some riffs that i can add into...

    Sampled Songs...

I only go back and listen to the original track sometimes. Like Cam'rons "Hey Ma", then the Commodores "Easy". They flipped that a lot. And like you said, DJ Premier flips shit up real good. I just never really heard that many loops. I know some people do it. But i didnt know that many.

    Simple Beats

Look at the producers who sequence on an ASR10. Red Spyda and alchemist's beats both usually sound real complex, but think about it. The ASR10 only lets you use 8 Channels at the most.

    Module/keyboard expansion. Need advice!

I agree wit Class on the Motif Rack. The triton rack can be expanded but youd be paying for the sampler and all the other shit you dont need. Motif rack ( i think) is just sounds.

I dont like it. Automatic Chop Function? Built-In Color Monitor? All this other shit? You dont even hafto work hard. If people keep makin shit like this, soon theres not gonna be producers, theres gonna be computers that make beats for MCs. Just my opinion, but i dont like where...

FUUUUCCCCKKKKK!!! I just listened to pieces. Alchemist sampled that. He didnt do a whole lot. He still makes his version 10 times better and he got mad hot beats, but he really didnt change much. Im havin trouble acceptin this. Atleast these guys should get props for diggin this shit up.

    Sampled Songs...

I mostly sample (cuz i cant afford synths and shit) but ive never just takin a loop from a track. I tried it, but it feels like your not doin anything. If i didnt care about respect and skill, i would do what Kanye did, but i do care about skill and respect so i hafto chop shit up and be...

    Alchemist: 1st Infantry

I think artist choice was kinda bad, but ive heard Al say how he'd rather work with somebody whos open to new ideas and isnt afraid to try something new over somebody who has the best rhymes or there the hottest artist out. SCRATCH Magazine gave a review for it and said Loyal Alchemist Fans...

Cold Truth, Does the DPS12 record a bunch of tracks at the same time or do they need to be recorded simultaneously? Cuz if they rec at the same time i think i might check out a DPS12. Or do you know any inexpensive ones that can record all at the same time?

    Sampled Songs...

MarkN, Glad your feelin wut im talkin about. If you ever listen to Guns & Roses (Jay-Z ft. Lenny Kravitz, Produced by Heavy D) and then listen to Arco Arena by Cake, Heavy D didnt even add a kit. All he did was loop one part 4 times, then looped a different part 4 times, then looped...etc...

Check out The First Track off of The Black Album, then listen to the one they sampled on POTs page. They didnt do anything besides timestretch and add a snare. I give em props for diggin for it but half the tracks on the cd i couldve done.
