Well I was gonna wait for the results to come in before commenting, but since thats not happening until tom. I'll just do it now... Gonna be busy tom.
My top 5 beats were:
1. MCAntonym - XMAS
2. Shuka4Beats - Shchedryk
3. Dub1Beatz - Shmerry Christmas
4. Joeburnem - Merry Christmas
5. Tactik -...
Just getting around to commenting, but yea, there were definitely a lot of good beats in this one...
After the first listen @hardboiled stood out the most, and seemed to be the clear winner... but after listening to the beats a few more times through, I realized a lot of these beats had...
You don't really need to use different sounds in every beat you make... Tons of great music was made with a single drum kit (acoustic drums), guitar, bass, and keys. I'm not referring to hip-hop, but classic rock, r&b, etc... Alot of the stuff people are using to sample.
Sometimes less can be...
Nice job man... Live guitar is one thing I can't live without when making beats. I'm curious why you use keys for bass instead of a bass guitar?
One bit of criticism though, your vocals sound like they could be a lil louder...
Yea, I thought so... I set up my monitors as described in the video, and I could already hear a difference in the mix after playing back some older beats. Now I just gotta put up some studio foam and I should be on the road to better mixes... and go back thru those old beats and mix them again...
Found this last night... I've watched a couple other episodes, and there's some really good info concerning studio setup, speakers, sound treatment, etc. If u haven't come across this before, check it out
Must've been back in 04-05... Maybe 06. I was beginning to teach myself how to play guitar and met a friend of a friend who was making beats. I actually just noticed he is a member here. His name is F1ndforty, it doesnt look like hes been active for a while, but he showed me the basics of FL and...
Really?!?! Im in both of your top 5... I didn't think my beat was that good.
@yungbeats Thanks for the feedback... My mixing can use some work for sure, but I'm getting slightly better at it. I don't normally make beats in the style either, but everything sounds good thru my monitors. I think...
I understand how a beat can grab your attention in the 1st few seconds, and that's good... It's good for Beat This! and Warzone battles where you only have 2 min. per beat, but for Battle That! where everyone has 4 min. I don't see that as being as important. I personally listened to all beats...
Final Round is gonna be tough... But I think yungbeats should get the victory
@yungbeats This beat is dope! I also think using a different beat for each round is a much tougher feat to accomplish instead of using 1 really dope beat thru every round...
@djfeedme Last year's champion, and u made...
@yungbeats lol... Was hoping you wouldnt notice. Your beat aint bad either, drums sound nice... I like how you mixed synth parts played over the samples (At least thats what it sounds like to me)
And dont think my feedback really means anything... I'm just some dude that sits in his room and...
@Spuntastic I really like this beat, but I think djfeedme got this round. Guitar sample sounds really good. (Is that a sample or is it something you played live? j/w)
@djfeedme The more I listen to this beat, the more I like it... Its really growing on me. What are you using for the lead sound...
Just quickly listened to all beats in round 1...
HardWireBeats vs Rodas
@HardWireBeats Everything sounds really good/I like how you have a hook and verse
@Rodas I like the energy you captured in this beat/That horn is dope
Yro Owen vs Jen
@Yrjo Owen This beat sounds good & feels good/I like...
Hmm... That makes sense. I'm far from a professional producer, I just do this for fun, but I have played around with "mastering" a couple of my own tracks. I don't really "know" what I'm doing, but it seems like I play around with the mix until everything sounds the way I want, then move on to...
Not planning to enter. Maybe next year, but I have a question... Are u saying that we submit a beat, and that beat is judged to pick the best contestants? Then once contestants are picked they need to submit more beats to use in the contest??
