    I don't finish a beat until after someone rhymes over it. Otherwise, you do a ton of work which you might have to re-sequence later. So I do a couple of sequences and put finishing touches on the end.

    I might know what I want it to sound like beforehand but what I end up with is completely different. Its like fitting pieces of a puzzle together. Sometimes somthing you thought would work - doesn't - so you have to go with plan B.

    When I do get the chance to preview a record before buying it, I make sure to listen to at least the intro. I find 95% of my samples come from the beginning. When I get home, that's when I listen all the way through.

    I started as a dj but once I knew I wanted to get into production - I made it my business to get a MPC200xl. From there I slowly added components as I needed them.

    I usually take anywhere from an hour to two or three hours. Anything longer than that and I stop and come back to it because my ears get tired. But its not about how long you take - its about the end result!!
