MPC and PC don't get on!

Hi folks,
I just installed a midi-interface yesterday, tryin' to connect my computer with my MPC 2000. The computer is reacting....I can see the light blinking on the interface when I press the mouse button.....but my MPC is simply not co-operating! Why? What have I forgotten? What I'm I doing wrong?

Do you have the MPC set to send or receive midi data. Here's an explanation of how to make it the slave device (in other words, the computer will control it). I have a 2000xl but it should be the same.

Go to the Midi sync page by holding shift & midi sync (9) buttons. The screen will be split. On the left side you have Sync in and the right is Sync out. Go to mode and set the mpc to use either Midi Time Code or Midi Clock (depending on how your computer's sequencer is set). Make the frame rate match the settings of the computer's frame rate (i.e., 25, 30, etc.). Go to recieve MMC and turn it on. That should do it.

but I think I've already tried that man. Anyway I'll try it again just to make sure. Can't wait to finish work. I really should have beat-making as an occupation. Peace.

what software are you using to trigger the mpc?? also i think massproduktion hit it in the head.
