I just respect anyone who does hip hop and have seen too many black, asian, latino, and white people who take it seriously. Race doesn't matter to me. In fact I learn something from each one. And all contribute. Where would d.j's be without the Japanese Technic turntable? And without Caucasians making hip hop a business would we see hip hop as sucessful? And if you've ever been a break dancer you know every culture has contributed and has their own sick crews and styles of breaking. so in breaking and d.j.ing we've seen A LOT of multiculturalism since the start where blacks or other races have not dominated the scene. Personally I haven't seen much multiculturalism in the MC department though I think it's just people used to listening to black people rhyme. But personally I think hip hop or music as I like to think about it is a form of self expression and anyone can do it and has been doing it. Some people just get stuck into stereotyping and don't wanna buy music from someone who is a different color. So of course you won't hear asian or latino rappers in the U.S. cause we're such a small percentage of the population.

I have to agree somewhat with classic that white people often take hip hop and only appreciate it as a fad. That's been my experience with the situation. Cats in suburban high school are bumping hip hop then they get to college and listen to "sophisticated" rock music. But there are so many wannabes from every type of race its ridiculous. But I just let people do what they want. People are experimenting and we should show them that hip hop doesn't discriminate and is a beautiful art. oh yeah Tiger Woods? He's asian and black. No offense to people but I think its funny when people make issues all about black vs white without seeing or giving notice to other colors in between.

You can call me racist all day, that’s fine, but im speaking what people’s perceptions are, like it or not. Now just because i say that most white boys rapping aint taking seriously doesn’t mean i believe its right.

Naw it aint right, there are garbage rappers of all colors stinking up the game right now. And i know there are dope white boys rapping, hell there are a couple raw ones on this site (truth, stress,etc....)

But the point is this, for every "real" white cat out there, U have 1000's of suburabn E-thughs stinking up the game copying MTV . And that stereotype is what prevails in the industry and the black community(which is 97% of the hip hop trends come from) as a whole right now. Maybe it will change one day, but it aint going nowhere for now.

When black peoples perceptions of white boys rapping changes, i have a feeling the game will open up. but for now, Em is going to be the soul great white hope(the qutoa) for white rappers in the game

White rappers have an uphill battle because of weak respentation in the past as well as mistrust and lame sterotypes. They will countinue to be looked upon as imposter(gimmick) MC’s by the general hip hop public (white or black) becasue of these lame misconceptions.

yeah, white people may exploit hip hop, but in reality hip hop is already being exploited by blacks. It's very close to being pop music if you can't call it that already. Most the time, an MC who lacks musical ability or has just enough to count to 4 over and over again gets on a beat which they did not produce. They depend of engineers to make them sound good. Most of they are saying is meaningless or based on some self serving petty motive like money, women, drugs, violence (props to 2Pac for doing more). Do they do something positive for the community with their money? Most don't... so I don't see how a white person who has the same amount of skills exploiting hip hop would be any different from a black person exploiting hip hop. Cause blacks started hip hop? I would have to say it was more than a black phenomenon. It started in American ghettos due to conditions created by white people, using technology from Whites, Asians, and other cultures. I just think its selfish for someone to say hip hop is my peoples. It's like a white man saying America is mine everyone else get out. Hip hop, like America is and has been evolving through the many contributions of all races.

I wish the world was more multicultural like my University UIC in Chicago, IL. I meet and get to know people personally who resemble nothing of the stereotypes people create. Even though some white people really don't get it and act like assholes. I'll just treat them individually and want to just whoop their ass individualy. Cause I've met enough white people who are better than negative stereotypes warrant. The same goes for every other race and person I've met and will meet. I think everybody has the ability to do whatever they want to do. The biggest thing that boggles me is that I come from a area where im used to being with Mixed races and as far as other involved in the hiphop scene or just friends alike, which in my case are and have been asian, black, and mexican....And they all see it the same way, we jus come together to make dope music, and they respect that.
