Nothing wrong with boom bap @Memento Beats you just dont undundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstundundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstandundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstundundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstandundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstundundeundunderundundeundundersundundeundunderundundeundunderstand what true hip hop is. You seem way too angry to wanna comprehend what a competitor wants to do without any respect. Boo to you isnt me crying bcuz you the one who cried. It's me not liking thesamestuff you always do because you cantseem to change up your style enough to impress me. I'm always making things better by getting different. Let's hear something new and stop cursing with your dirty mind.

@TACTIK you make a good point though about the drums and the style. First off, that's just @Memento Beats's style and it works for him so that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own style. However, one thing I've always noticed with Trap style (or whatever modern style is called) is that a lot do sound the same. But there's also a lot of Boom Bap that sounds the same.

BUT! I always found that Boom Bap beats at least had a good melody, swing, flow. Funky, if you will. With Trap there's not much, if any, at all. That's not to take away from the Trap style, but there's been times when some Trap beats didn't win because I think they just sounded too generic. At least that's how I heard some of them.

I've heard some really dope Trap beats on here, I've reviewed a bunch on AOTB and they're really good but in my opinion after a while a lot of them tend to sound very similar. So with that in mind, it can be hard to judge sometimes. It's almost to a point where I'm sure some people that vote roll their eyes like "oh another Trap beat" type of thing.

Anyway, I just think that there's nothing wrong with either style, it's just Trap CAN be generic-sounding. It's kind of like DJ competitions years ago - if you check the older ones there were some crazy sets these guys did and they were all funky. Now it's all BEEPS and BOOPS and I'm not feeling it at all anymore.

Your the crybaby after seeing your big response. I'm not reading all your dirty word garbage that your spewing after trying to have a normal conversation @Memento Beats. I totally won a 16 competitor beat battle on last years Halloween beat that gives fools like you nightmares who have no respect for original sounding hip hop. Trap has no soul at all and you cant understand how bringing back boom bap is how to keep it alive after the 3year retro phase. I make way more than hip hop as a producer bro, where you gonna go with all the same sounding things you're making?

Your acting crazy over this conversation I tried to have with ya @Memento Beats. I'm not reading all your negativity either bcuz I could just see all your angry cuss words all over the place. I won many beat battles within the last few years with Themes. You only win the no themed ones...Let's see who wins next month's Piano theme on Beat This with a brand new beat!

Nice samples in your track @Mobrownbeat.

Sick drum pattern and rhythm you got with your kicks in All Yours @Hypermanbeatz

Really dig the flute flow in your Trickle beat @Primz. Your a God with your unique soundz! I rally dig how you change your basslines, especially on Mountain Peak. Those hats will gimme a headache if I listen to the beat too much tho.

Legit original drumz in Heavy Hitters @Bugsy

I can handle 808 drumz on your hard Dark Ascenion @KiloOnTheBeat

Stoked to hear someone sampling like you @ArvinArmani but I was bummed those ill voices faded out in the end instead of played throughout the 2nd half!

Love to hear soulful female samples used like you did but no one votes for them on here unfortunatley...I tried some of my favorite soul tracks b4 and was basically disqualified by the voters I have now determined @YayYayYanni.

@Memento Beats your AMG beat was way too horny for me to enjoy.

@GoldenBoy your Spartan beat was my favorite on here with the Orchestral sound you composed!

@Pappas Beats nice try using all those different pitches with your voice samples but I think you should get into some AutoTune and do exactly what you want! I dont ever wanna do auto tune but think you would kill some tracks with it!
Thank you bro!!

I dnt know about yo;l , i think its the same with any style really. Iv heard alot of boom bap and it all sounds similar as much as trap. Hip-hop in general has become very generic. I know i always try to switch it off with unique sounds and all that, but really, hear enough of a genre and it all sounds the same. Hence last warzone i did some latin type but that didnt even get me past round 1 so ditched it. People just like two, trap and boom bap. The forum doesnt really encourage innovation to try new things.

@Memento Beats
Your acting crazy over this I've won many beat this battles before you trippin. I'm not reading your BS I almost won the last Halloween battle that probably gives fools like you nightmares.

You almost won last Halloween? XDDDDD

Where are you winning??? Who is above you? :D You haven't won anything for like a year or something hahahahah. Besides look at the number of battles you participated in and the number of battles I participated in. We are only 13 points apart yet you were in 87 where I was in 62. :D So who's better? :p

You have a seizure here or something? Someone forgot to take their medication today? ;)

I have nothing against boom bap. I do boom bap myself from time to time, I also make many other things. But it's better to call me IDIOT and FOOL.

First of all, I didn't curse nor offended you with any bad word you FOOLISH IDIOT. But I'm doing it on purpose now you FOOL. You are the only one member of all time rank doesn't deserve to be there at all YOU IDIOT. You are saying I don't have respect for TRUE hip hop (what does it even mean? lmfao). I appreciate things that was made by SoulCity or MFRiddlah. Also JAYUNO who was crazy with his sample flips. But you are less than average for me. You have never impressed me and to be honest you are the only member that is in All Time Rank that I have almost zero respect for and whom I do not fear at all. @crog85 is a beast, @S3oulC1ty is a beast, @Sucio is a beast, @ThE_SiRe_BeAtS is crazy with his productions, @ArvinArmani can hit sometimes really really hard, @Bugsy and @KAMBOSLICE too. Fact that people like them are beneath you is a joke.

I agree with @Primz every genre sounds more or less the same but stay tru and keep talking bs as you're doing right now you FOOL. ;)

Fuck you @TACTIK

It's not that we're not encouraging to try new stuff, it's just people have to remember that it is a Hip Hop forum. So if someone battles with a beat that is more dance or borderline techno, then of course it won't win.

I agree about Hip Hop in general sounding the same. A lot of it is because there's a lot more people doing it and a lot of them are using the same programs and sounds. Eventually it's going to be a mess.

Haha your so pathetic accusing me of a seizure and being offended, I dont have that issue and dont need any pills. Your not upsetting me at all with your garbage I'm over you trying to have a simple conversation your just a looser. Turn your foul mind and shut up already or your just wasting your mental abilities. Mine are better than yours for not going agro and by being able to make more than just hip hop. Careful who you get agro with bcuz your the foolio acting like theres a problem. Look in the mirror and the problem will probably give you anxiety since yoursuch a panic attack actor in here. Stop your nonsenseand learn to be a man about your music already. Your childish behavior here has no discipline and isnt worthy of showing Bruce Lee bowing peace over war with your all your negativity.

Exactly, i mean im late 30's, i grew up on all the classics, i made beats like that back in the days until i felt like i was stagnating so switched to trap. My trap is not exactly trap trap the way i hear it. I like putting clean instruments which takes forever finding those, a specific flute, a specific string. The only par of my beats thats really trap is the 808's. Just love how i can tweek them hahahaha

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in certain feelings and observations.

I got no beef if people want to make trap or boombap or what, and a lot of those who have won with trap have really good production skills in terms of sound quality. And even Memento i can tell it's a memento beat cause of certain sounds he use and the way he makes his melodies.

And I'm not against trap as even most stuff im making is trap.

But it sounds like most people are copying the same youtube tutorial or something. It's not that everyone's making trap but everyone's making the exact same style of trap.

And it feels almost like the people voting are kids looking for the same thing that sounds like the other same thing.

It's like a fashion/style battle... except the kids are voting for something just 'cause it has the SUPREME logo on it.

I've only really noticed one other person i consider trying to do trap in a 'unique' or you know, individual/different style.

It is what it is i guess. But it gets a bit tedious.

I also have nothing against boombap but I don't understand why people here underrate trap beats. I'm politely asking for some clairification because I'm getting lost here for real and I would really like to get a clear perspective on it.

"It sounds like most people are copying the same youtube tutorial or something"- I agree with that point that most of trap beats sound similar and that in most cases they are simple. These are facts. However, if you look at boom bap and for example you go to YouTube and search oldschool hip hop playlist these things also sound the same in most cases. Most of them are based on samples, most of them use similar drum patterns etc. The same goes with other music genres. If you google thrash metal most of the stuff will sound like Slayer or Megadeth copies. I think it's quite unavoidable.

So this is why I cannot comprehend why people only point out that trap beats are that bad but they don't see certain things in hiphop/boombap/oldschool etc?

I would be very grateful for some clarification here because I would really love to get your perspective on that. What does trap have to sound like in order to be acceptable for you? I'm really curious.

@Pappas Beats Great job knocking me out. Not sure what happened on my part. I thought originally whomever I went up against, their beat did not sound like a Hip Hop beat so I wonder if it was some other reason why you won. Not a bad beat, just couldn't see it fitting in the Hip Hop genre. Just me whining. DOn't mind me though. You win some, you lose some....I'll be back!
Is this is the beat that you are referring to, when we went against each other? And, I dunno, sounds hip hop to me...
as this whole thread has shown, what one person sees as "Hip Hop" another scowls at. I think everyone needs to chill the fk out for real. People listening to music without vocals and make a "Hip Hop" judgement based on their own biases. If I wanted someone to tell me what hip hop is they sure the hell better be older than I am cause I been listening to this shit for a LONG time. Like what someone brings or stfu, you get a vote, not a pedestal to preach at others. My 2 coppers on all this and this aint at you fury, talking in general on this thread.
