i guess its like beating your meat, nobody talks about it, everybody does it.:)
how do you feel about sampling tracks you got from the net?

i must admit, i love to get into records, and sample from vinyl, whenever i get the chance. the sound is so much more rugged and nice. but i simply do not have time and money for excessive digging on flee markets plus i do not have any good spots nearby.

you think the attitude will change in general, or will there still be cats in 10 years from now, saying "sampling from anything else than the original is wack"...

and how about the whole culture of trading samples? seems to me nobody does it anymore, but thats just on the side...

I do it all the time and dont get any problems with sound in general.
If you get FLAC files of albums and convert to WAV, its sounds as good as the vinyal, as many songs in FLAC are part of the FLAC project which is all about transfering wax to digital.
Like I say , I do it in a second no prob, if its sounds like shit I wont use it.

flac isn't mp3. it's a lossless compression format.

as for everyone doing it: well I never do it but I beat my meat all the time.

I read your post mate; did you see what this thread is about?

MP3s?

Yeah, I sample from CD and have no problems either: sounds almost as good as the vinyl too. Sampling from vinyl sounds almost as good as vinyl.

Relevance?

hah! this is like anonymous mp3 samplers meeting. but i feel people when they say its too easy nowadays, f.e. premo "no talent required", this was not only about digital mixing. it somehow misses the point tho, because you still have to mix sounds together in a creative way. but these guys spent their whole life digging for the right cut, and then some jackass puts out a cd with 300 breaks and i just use it.

on the other hand i feel like the digital revolution quadripples hiphop, which can not be bad. well, i think its only about certain people loose their exclusiveness, which made a major portion of hiphop producion back in the days, when guys used to put white labels on their records, so nobody could see it.

times change

I feel that we as hip-hop producers and beatmakers should get our sounds and samples where ever they are available. Whether that junk is on vinyl, off the net or cassette. I've done them all. Heck, I've even sampled off my Playstation! Don't let sample purism abort your ability to grow as artists. Take advantage of ALL available resources and do what others aren't willing to do and take this art to the next level.

I can honestly say I've never sampled an Mp3 in my life. I'm not against it I just have a huge ass record collection and have been fortunate to always find something in

Plus i know my records so well its like if i need something i know where to look for it. Or i can have it composed if i cant do it myself.
