The average listener is not trying to discern whether or not you rip'd the sample from vinyl or not....only other producers put any weight in that. There are several effects plugins out there that can dirty things up to the point that you really can't tell unless you're trying hard to find something...lol

I feel that we as hip-hop producers and beatmakers should get our sounds and samples where ever they are available. Whether that junk is on vinyl, off the net or cassette. I've done them all. Heck, I've even sampled off my Playstation! Don't let sample purism abort your ability to grow as artists. Take advantage of ALL available resources and do what others aren't willing to do and take this art to the next level.

Well put, sir. I totally cosign all of that...

Haha.

I only ever sample off MP3's, because I don't have the money for vinyl or turntables. ALTHOUGH, I have been seriously thinking about getting some and hooking them up to my laptop, just need to look into it more.

Dude I just bought a USB turntable for 85.99 at best buy....it's belt drive...but it does the job......no need to buy 12's just to sample.....

exactly like beating the meat. I will if i have to but i'd rather have the real thing.

Nice first post....

Probably googled "beating the meat" and this thread showed up..and decided to look into it further...
