He was the 1st rapper signed to epitaph.

Atmosphere, The Coup, & BLACKALICIOUS! are all on epitaph now. Whoever is signing the hip hop acts certainly knows their shit.

I love this album. It's been in my cd player for 2 weeks now and hasnt left my bronco.

Hope (the non prophets album) was a throwback to the early nineties style, definitely my fav sage release. His "Still sick" series, as well as personal journals & a healthy distrust are all great albums.

A lot of heads dont really feel him, they dismiss him as "emo-rap" "nerd rap" and "whiteboy gay shit"

Fuck the haters, Sage is a great poet and lyricist.

Well said Hopps - Fuck tha haters...At least tha mutherfuckers being creative with his instead of biting other cats and making the same droning bullshit thats everywhere......To me, its a breath of fresh air....I give anything new a chance as long as its dope and creative, and Sage is just that.....I cant complain personally.....

PS - YO!, i didnt kno the Coup made it on Epitaph!?.....Sick man.....i cant wait to see good things happen for those guys......Ive been down with the coup for days .....I love that groups stuff, and Pam is ill on the tables.....

Sage Francis is the ish. I read an aritcle in URB about 'em a couple years back.
I saw his Personal Journalist album copped it and I've been hooked ever since.

Dude comes with some substance and I love his play on words. He's also always alluding to hip hop before his time, he's a true head.

Joe Beats puts me in a trance. I don't have to be high or nothing. His beats are unique, I hope I can develop a style like his. It stands out cause it's different but its still dope.

And thats all that matters man!.....I fucking find it soooo interesting when people try and bash certain styles of hiphop that are outside of the usual circle that u hear clear channel rape the airwaves with all day long....and usually for some dumb shit too, like "oh its aiight, but what is this backpacker music?, I dont really like that stuff - but their good at what they do..."...LOL.......Fucking retarded comments like that get to me, cuz u kno homie never bothered to try and expand his musical palet, cuz to him Dre is God and everything in between is just aiight....I dunno, i someone feels me here tho?......Theres a certain crowd that rolls like that and u can spot em almost instantaneously......Please keep in mind, i aint saying cats shouldnt like what they like - on the contrary - i jus mean, peeps like that dont bother to try and learn more about music and what else is available to them cuz theyre so easily pleased with what TV and RADIO provides them....

OK, sorry - back to the topic. :)

I have to say I really like what most of the Anticon people are up too - The MC as much as the producers really. Anyone heard of Jel? He did a lot of production for Sage [Personal Journals, sick Of Waging War] He's got two completely instrumental albums out which are really interesting - definately woth checking out.

Jel is nice on the production for sure.. some of the Anticon cats I don't really feel, but there are a couple standouts.. What do you think of Blockhead?

He's complete legend, although he's on Ninjatune..[I'm sure you knew that, lol] I kinda like all those heads too - Dj Vadim, The Herbaliser etc. and they have some strange heads on there doing a combination of electronic and jazz and stuff [Jaga Jazzist, Cinematic Orchestra]

Jel and blockhead are both kings. i have jel- 10 seconds (album made with 10 seconds of sampling time on the sp1200) and blockhead - music by cavelight (some of the shit on that vclearly shows the man is a genious.

wow i never thought id see cinematic orchestra mentioned on this board. they are rediculously good. day by day is probs my fav instrumental album i own along with dj shadow - endtroducing and rjd2 - deadringer.
