Ok so I just bought the August issue of Q Magazine. The main article lists the 100 most powerful people in the music industry. Very interesting. I've decided to list the top 10 and some notables.....let's hear what you think

I just put the notables....many of those guys are in the top 100 but I didn't put them....A lot of the people are industry people and behind the scenes dudes, but I wasn't gonna actually write out the entire 100 list....geez....6 of the top 10's are CEO's

All the people who are bitchin at the ranks in the mag, maybe you should buy it and read what it has to say about the artists and why they are ranked where they are. Personally I agree with it to some degree.....I don't care what y'all say, NOBODY in the industry can end Eminem's career. NOBODY!! Bottom line is the fans decide what's hot and what's not. Jimmy Iovine is not gonna drop Eminem ever.....He's holding on to Em with all he's got cuz in the end, he sells records....And if Iovine ever did drop him, EVERY SINGLE LABEL would be fighting over him....Em's the highest payed Artist in the world (for private shows). He may not be the boss of the record company, but I can almost guarantee Em answers to nobody at the label.

Think of it this way, CEO's can be replaced, rappers can't

i think the magazine is from the UK....I was in a bookstore and saw it so i picked it up....Theres some good articles in it....It's more of a Rock magazine me thinks lol

Power is kinda an opinion thought, right? It aint like, "well eminem has more power then the ceo of interscope. And this person is in front of jay-z because of this shit."


Power is an opinion. I dont really think you can measure power.

But the list is still fucked up.

Now I didn't specifically say Eminem, but still, imagine if a CEO wanted him gone...and started playing the dirty tricks God mentioned sometime. Started picking up a lot of dirt on him, exposing him as something to upset the fans, made sure deals were prosponed etc...constantly. I mean, who's to say for sure, perhaps not Eminem, but some of these CEO's can surely make some of the mentioned artists disappear into the night.

Anyway, you're right though Swivel, I don't know the criteria, and the facts that made the placings, but having not seen the whole list and presented with everything it contains, that's my thought...

Because he executes exploits by being an artist, producer and CEO of his own record company/productions house. You dont make that much money on being an artist.
