Paying for chord progression samples, loops, and MIDI?

What's up guys and girls, OGbama from loopmasters recommended I ask my question on this forum,


I am a pianist/producer from Seattle. Looking to create and sell sample packs of some really dope, modern, cutting edge chord progressions/loops for producers like yourselves.

My questions for you guys are...

1) How many of you would consider paying for a large pack of dope chord progressions/loops in MIDI /WAV form?

2) How much would you pay? (for example $19 for 300 progression/loops etc..)

3) What would deter you from buying a such a thing? (Other than not liking the sounds)

I plan on using VSTs like Omnisphere2 and providing MIDI along with WAV files. All the samples would be royalty-free and would contain tempo, key, and, loop length (in measures/beats).

I am very curious in hearing your input. There is a lot of talent here in this forum. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

there a bunch of places to get those already.. so they need to be dope in the since that a adrian younge/dj premier kind of guy can chop em as well as trap producer.. has to be stuff for both..imo

I would need midi, jst because i like to use my own sounds, starting to really like the kontak bank sounds expensive but great quality
Ominsphere is Dope realistic sounds and very rich too.

as long as you have them midi files you can chop them up and replace the sounds, Also other places don't offer royalty free

I'm going to be 100 with you, if you're thinking about doing 2 or 4 bar loops on Omni and slapping a price tag on it, i think you are, as Carlin once so elegantly stated, S.O.L. and J.W.F., shit outta luck and jolly well fucked xD.
If, on the other hand, you plan to do longer pieces (1 min ish) with different instruments and variations throughout, I think people would value that a lot (if your piano skills are better than theirs xD). I'd honestly cop a pack if it were something more developed and go about it as I would flipping a "normal song"

I think people would be better off learning chord progressions themselves, just so they arent stuck with what they get. That said, I think the easiest money to make these days in music is from wanna be producers and artists, so with the right advertising, you could do well

The market is oversaturated with this stuff. And i think you need a good way to market it to be succesful. For example do the "Type" thing like Zaytoven Keys, Scott Storch Piano Riffs, etc etc. Any serious producer will most likely not be using that, but for any up and coming producer or someone who just started out looking for that Instant Gratification/Inspiration are probably the ones you want to target at first to build your brand up. Another way of doing this though bro.. Is to actually start Emulating Samples. Hire a studio session with a real Bosendorfer or whatever piano Mic it up properly with vintage sounding mics and record that shit on Tape etc etc. And start recording 2 min long compositions that producers can sample without having to hassle with Sample Clearance. i buy packs on occasion.. for synth presets (Serum mostly).. then I throw out the loops, construction kits, midi files. Everything that isn't a one shot. I have great disdain for that shit. And I honestly wish there was no such thing. And I just now realize this post is old as fuck!!! but i'm hitting POST REPLY cuz damn it anyways.

I rarely buy full chord proggessions or midi packs.
Mainly because they are mostly free.
And plus FL Studio you can do a lot with scales and knowledge of it to some degree.
The drumkits and The Crate League i buy that every now and then.
It gives me new inspiration to produce and create.
I do want to say that there's a lot,too much actually, of it out there.
In this age of constant information they are just recycling the same compositions over and over again.
I will not buy the stems anymore because i think its actually useless.
I rather just slice up the wav and chop it in a creative way.
I agree with people said above here,to create such a kit or pack,...
You really either have made a name for yourself or be really F*ing creative to spin it a way that people buy it.
Recently i saw on thedrumbroker site a kit full of hihats.
I was like really? Just hihats...sheer laziness or pure genius?

I bought some Superior Drummer midi packs for some realistic drums... saved me a lot of editing time... nothing hip-hop related however.
Chord progressions, never. I know enough theory for what I need, or I eventually learn some on my way. Even if music theory was completely uncharted territory for me, I think most daws have everything I need to save that money.
I'm sorry that my comment is not very encouraging and I am sure there's a way to make it work...

Maybe selling it with some theory knowledge that you share along the way so that people have a theory lesson AND the midi to understand the lesson related...and everything. You get the idea...
