This is strictly how Gigastudio works and it is very efficient. That is how you can have 10GB libraries with1GB of system ram. It works very well.

OK, but are you certain this is how the MPC operates? It seems to me that the eight "direct record tracks" stream from hard disk, beginning to end, however all other samples are loaded into ram and triggeredfrom ram.

Basically, the MPC5000 is Akai's response to the MV series. Think about it.

True that! They're definitely trying to get at Roland with the 5k. I'm going to do the mpd32 and call it a day when it drops. I got everything else that the mpc can do on my pc in the form of Ableton Live 7.
