And as to your UNHEALTHY AMERICANS statement...who the fuck made us unhealthy and why? Why does the healthy shit in the stores cost 3 times as much as the unhealthy shit? And who does being unhealty benefit right now TODAY? If everybody walked around as healthy as Moses would your fam have ever sought a job in health care? The baby boomers are the reason everybody wants to rush into the health care field today. And it's not to prevent them from becoming ill or becoming unhealthy it's to treat them and make a gang of money cause most of them have a pretty descent retirement nest egg saved up and they want to bleed them dry before they DIE. There's the real DEATH PANEL FOR YOU!

That's so true......if fast food/processed food wasn't so popular...and healthy choices were cheaper than unheathly ones....if they banned the most addicting drug ever created (cigarettes)...you know damn well people would be healthier....

And the insurance companies are loving it.....because they are cashing in on these policies for people who are going to get sick or have the fear of getting sick...either way they're denying their claims for specialized health care...

There should be NO reason why a healthy meal for one to cost the same as 2 or more value meals at any fast food chain...I've seen children no older than 9 years old over 100lbs inhaling a cheeseburger...Insurance companies love shit like that....Because these parents would fork over a lot of money to ensure their obese child (which they should be jailed for doing) gets healthcare......these insurance companies already made their money if you paid for a year w/o incident, they've flipped that money 10fold by then with investments....

It's a damn shame, really....

Obama clearly stated that people can purchase their own healthcare if they wish....he's giving the people options...which hasn't been done before...My only issue with it is that it's going to be so expensive that I feel our financial way of life would change pretty significantly....For those who want to pay for insurance...I tell ya what...I'm pretty sure the rates are going to go down because now there's an alternative to paying them for it....Now the monopoly no longer exists...So I guess it does have it's pros and cons...

I'm saddened at the hatred and the near savage nature these people have exposed to the world...It's disturbing that people feel the way they do about this...I bet you when this is all said and done, most of those people or someone in their family would benefit from it.

It's been the same for so many years...people are so afraid of change....unaware of it's benefits or consequences...Come on people...let's get it together.

Magna...come on dude...are you serious?

My only issue with it is that it's going to be so expensive that I feel our financial way of life would change pretty significantly....

i believe so. but especially in western countries we keep spending so much money on shit we don't need. soft drinks, ipod, candy bars, partying, another pair of sneakers, gas for driving, even if it's only short distances (WALK, idiot^^).
some years back, when insurance companies in germany introduced one has to pay 10 bucks extra when visiting a doctor for the first time in a quarter, there was general outrage. people where really angry, which is quite funny. its only 10 bucks, it's for your health, and only once in a while. same people might spend 5 bucks a day for a pack of cigarettes.
but i feel what you're saying with the high prices for healthy food. i lived in the uk for some time, and man the only affordable food over there was fat and sugar. sick. in germany you have really low priced vegetables, which is cool.

you know it's not wonderland here, people are struggling as well, insurance companies can be a bitch, too, and neo liberals are constantly sapping the foundation of social democracy. but generally everyone can afford a healthy life, and you don't have to be worried with hospital bills when your child breaks his leg. no matter if your rich or poor.

I hear ya...

But people have set up communities that are far enough from a lot of places here that a vehicle is needed.

Closest store to me is 2 miles away.... It's just how things are out here.....

Ohio police dispatcher passes along racist image of Air Force One.

The OhioDaily blog reports on a “rogue” dispatcher from the North Canton Police who recently sent out a racist e-mail from her work account. Dispatcher Anita Malachowski forwarded this message:

“New “Air Force One” Tail Number and yes, please forgive me, I’m really sorry, I really, really tried not to laugh, but …………………..!”

tailohio.jpg

Attached to the e-mail was an Photoshopped image of Air Force one with NI66ER written on the plane’s tail. As OhioDaily writes, “This type of message is offensive coming from anyone, but coming from someone in the position of dispatching police and prioritizing calls, it’s downright horrifying. The North Canton police have a hard enough job as it is without rogue dispatchers trying to incite a race riot or stirring tensions during the hot months of summer.”

Because that's where racism is very widespread and the people aren't scared to show it....

Being from the south, I see it a lot when I leave the metro area....It's sad, really..

Don't get me wrong...Even when I lived in Brooklyn I've gotten "Go back to the nigger projects" yelled at me...

Hey...I've learned to live with it, because this world won't be what it is without hatred....

Word, I mean it was kind of a rhetorical/sarcastic statement. lol....
I just dont understand how that region of the US can be so ass-backwards 1/2 the time.
Im not dismissing racism existing elsewhere, that would be silly. I see it right here in liberal California...

But in comparison to the south we look like a futuristic race of people floating around in hover cars. lol.

I just dont get it.
Its totally unproductive to live in the past like that. :(

Definitely....A lot of the true southerners still feel detached from the North......I get a lot of smartass comments by southern natives about a lot of people in the north taking over the south and how we left the "zoo" to ruin their communities.......Like they need any more ruining......They got meth labs all over this place....and I don't know many people up north who were on meth.......

They've got the worst schools than any other region in the country...shit..they're CLOSING schools out here...

I hate when those confederate flags say "history not hate".... That flag is the universal symbol of slavery next to the whip to me...

To defend the south....just kidding..I can't defend the south on that one...Lol.....

On the real.....the reason the racist sumbiches amongst us are really really really showing there ass right now is because they are totally losing there foundation which is the south. The are only the majority in power positions not in numbers anymore. They move to the hills, people of color move to the hills. They let certain parts of the city die so that they can buy it up and "revitalize it" and move back to the city, jack up the price and people of color still move right next door. The reason the Republicans are fitting so hard to make sure the next census does not come out is because it'll will show that there predominantly white districts are no more. Show the people the real numbers and stop doing all this redistricting and they'll be a whole lot more people of color hold major office positions.

still unconfirmed and no bill has been chosen but they didn't have the votes needed from jump, specifically in the senate and they don't have the votes now. those blue dogs, much like the repubs, didn't enter in good faith and were never going to vote for single payer or the public option no matter what.

that's why dean has stated that they'll run progressives against the blue dogs and any other dem that either won't vote for it or was actively impeding it.

Just what I was hoping would happen! Obama needs to take what ever political clout he has left and campaign HARD with whom ever runs against those clowns. This would definitely not have happen to a white Republican or a white Democrat for that matter. All of a sudden when we have a black President we get these fucking blue dogs. What kind of fucking name is that anyway? I never gave Obama much chance to change anything in this country in the first place. He's actually surprised me with the things he has been able to change. If this thing doesn't get passed our country will live to regret it....I can promise you that much. If I were Obama I'd drop the plan all together....NOTHING WOULD GET PASSED. A slimmed down version will do absolutely nothing for the people that need it. When health care cost double in the next 5 to 10 years those same assholes will be crying like baby's! They will beg for help from the government or anybody else that can lend a FINANCIAL hand. Maybe this country is destined to go down the toilet. Maybe...just maybe we deserve it for all the damage we've caused the ENTIRE world! There's a price to be paid for all the innocent bleed that has been shed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our country won't go unpunished by the ULTIMATE power that B! The said thing is that a lot of the innocent in this country will have to suffer as well. What goes around comes around!

Twelve Carry Guns -- Including Assault Rifle -- Outside Obama Event

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/li...ault-rifle----outside-obama-event.php?ref=fpa

About 12 people were carrying guns, including at least one semi-automatic assault rifle, outside a building where President Obama was speaking today.

No one was arrested outside the VFW National Convention in Phoenix, according to the Associated Press, where hundreds of people demonstrated both for and against health care reform. There are no reports that the 12 were part of an organized group.

The man spotted carrying the assault rifle and a pistol, who gave his name only as "Chris", was asked why he was armed. "Because I can do it," he said. "In Arizona, I still have some freedoms." You can watch the video from ArizonaCentral.com (go to about 1:30). He's being interviewed by a man who's also wearing a handgun.

Two police officers kept close by. Carrying guns, including the AR-15 assault rifle, is legal under Arizona law.

"If we need to intervene, we will intervene at that time," said Detective J. Oliver.

CNN's Ed Henry reported seeing a second man with an assault rifle, but that has not been confirmed.

These reports come less than a week after two people brought guns to a presidential event in Portsmouth, N.H. At Obama's town hall there, one man was arrested for having a gun hidden in his car after the Secret Service found him at Portsmouth High School hours before Obama arrived carrying a pocketknife. He didn't have a license for a concealed weapon.

Another man in Portsmouth was spotted carrying a gun in a leg holster outside the school. The unconcealed weapon was legal under New Hampshire law and he was not arrested. Later, when asked why he brought the gun, he replied, "That's not even a relevant question. The question is, why don't people bear arms these days?"

And that's not all. A man brought a gun to a town hall with Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) last week, without incident. At an event with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), someone dropped a gun, but he had a permit and no police report was taken. And two weeks ago, a New Mexico man tweeted that reform opponents should bring guns to town halls and "badly hurt" SEIU reps.

IF that were a Bush rally, they'd be detained as if he were a terrorist....

Yes, that is legal in NH, but the president needs to be protected.....

It's unreal how close these people are getting to OUR PRESIDENT with these weapons...Shit like this doesn't happen, and yet we as a country are allowing it...

It's almost Kennedy-esque, if you ask me....

God Forbid (and I use the term God loosely) he is assassinated, the race war that would follow would be devastating....

How big of an oxymoron is it all! HEALTH CARE+GUNS....are you kidding me

Our country was at it's greatest point on inauguration day less than a year ago (man it seems like 4 years have already passed by) and we have been looking like ASS these last couple month's. The world is watching. We won't be able to comment on anything another country does IMMORALLY or otherwise if this keeps up. We have fallen to an all time low. I really hope nothing other than posturing comes out of this but I'm mentally preparing myself and my family for the worse.

here's a little poignant blog post at soulbrother v2

http://soulbrotherv2.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-woke-up-this-morning-and-bought.html

I Woke Up this Morning, and Got Myself a Gun (Pondering My Next Move)

"Some time ago I resolved to begin each Monday on a positive note. However, events of this past weekend have pushed me completely in the opposite direction.

The tension out there is getting thick. On Saturday morning, I awoke to find in my local morning paper an article about a local businessman who is absolutely enraged that local authorities will not consent to him hosting a “Leaded Tea Party” over the Labor Day weekend on property owned by his business. [See original post.] Celebrants were to be able to fire weapons on a shooting range he set up on the property.

He has reacted by banning all government personnel from the property and erecting barricades and employing security personnel to enforce the ban. This is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

Perhaps I should not be surprised. In fact, I actually expected this kind of reaction in this area sooner. After all, North Florida is but an extension of South Georgia. But I am cautious, perhaps overly so because I know these people are reacting not out of anger but out of fear. Yet, fear can make people react in ways in which they normally would not react and make decisions they will later regret. And with the hysteria stoked by the lies and propaganda from the right, anything is possible.

However, my wife’s reaction to the whole situation is what really disturbs me.

I am baffled by the whole gun culture. There is a segment of this country’s population who has enjoyed a long running love affair with guns that does not make sense. I have tried to explain it, but I honestly cannot. I have an idea that he has something to do with the power a gun suggests.

Though I have never owned a gun, I am more than capable of using one. When I was in the military, I qualified as an expert on a number of weapons—the M-16, the M-60 machine gun, the grenade launcher, the .45 caliber pistol, and the shotgun. However, I believe guns in the home are more trouble than they are actually worth; stories of catastrophes caused by guns in the home abound. And there is no conclusive proof that the presence of a gun in the home increases the safety of the home’s residence.

And my wife is even more strongly anti-gun than I. She vowed long ago that we would never possess a gun. So, imagine my surprise when on Saturday as we stood in the front yard, and I showed her the article alluded to earlier and casually joked that it might be time we armed ourselves.

She looked warily toward our neighbor’s home, the one outside which an oversize Confederate flag flies, and who drives the pick-up truck replete with anti-Obama and anti-Socialist bumper stickers. And then she looked either way up and down our street perhaps remembering that we were one of very few minorities in the area.

And I think I saw just a hint of fear in her eyes when she said, “I think it is definitely something we should talk about.” Her capitulation to the no gun rule by even considering bringing a gun into our home caught me and my children completely by surprise. It is not an overstatement to say we were unsettled by it.

And I did recognize the look of fear in my children’s eyes as they looked first at each other, and then at my wife, and finally at me. And I did recognize a slight twinge of fear of my own as I considered the possibilities and pondered how I might protect them if worse comes to worse.

Later when my wife and I were alone, I thought of broaching the subject with her again just to see if she was indeed serious, but I thought I would wait a while before mentioning it again.

I did not want the two of us to make such a serious decision out of fear. Because I know that fear can make people react in ways in which they normally would not react and make unwise decisions that they will later regret.

But today I think I will stop and price a few guns on the way home just to be on the safe side."

The reason some of the so called "Gun Nuts" are so intent on the right to bear arms is down to the rights laid out in the constitution and bill of rights that were created for the sole purpose of stopping a tyrannical government regaining control over the american people.
The founding fathers new the dangers posed by corporate governments, and the miltary industrial complex, the whole point of the the constitution is to grant freedom from a government that seeks to enlsave us either physically, finacially or mentally.
The whole reason americans were given the right to bear arms is...
When the tyrannical regime does come along to take over the country and abolish freedom(remember nazi germany, gun amnesty followed by dictatorship), it allows the citizen to defend their propety & family against the true enemy. The enemy within the government, ie big business.
The people that pull the government strings are the ones that bankroll them, that is big business.
And they really dont have our best interests at heart.
And that isnt up for debate. The proof speaks for itself.
We have long been warned of the military industrial complex, we failed to listen or act.
Obama is just a pawn in a global game of chess, he has no real power except diplomacy.
Im all for the right to bear arms, Im all for a persons right to defend the freedom that so much blood was shed to
gain.
