it was a full on worded, sung vocal melody that lasted 8 bars each time it played.the hook was basically a snippet repeated over the beat

Lmao +1it was a full on worded, sung vocal melody that lasted 8 bars each time it played.
If I got a bar of Nate Dogg singing, and looped it 8 times, that's not 'vocals' ?
If it was 1 bar, i could accept, or more like an actual snippet with an effect... but it's a full on vocal melody that lasts 8 bars.
To me that's a vocal.
Maybe time to start uploading beat tags and 8 bar choruses to 'no vocal' battles. Maybe steal a melody from a hit hip-hop record whilst im at it.
but a scratch is a scratch... it's not 8 bars of vocalscould say the same for people that put scratches on their beats, adds another level that others cant compete with?
1 bar of melodic lyrics, repeated... so, like an actual chorus.the hook was basically a snippet repeated over the beat
a snippet maybe something that happens once every 4 bars, or at the beginning of every few bars.the hook was basically a snippet repeated over the beat
occasional vocal snippets (but don't rely on them too much).
Can I have vocals in my beats?
No! This is purely a beat battle. The whole point of the battle is to out-do your opponent with your beats. You can use the occasional vocal snippet, just like in the Beat This! Competition.
DISCORD GANG HOLLA ATCHA BOIIIIIII
Alright, guys. I'm beat #18 .
I understand the discussion about the vocal thing...
To me, since it's a part of the song I sample it's part of the beat itself, it's in no way comparable to an 8 bars "chorus" that would be toplined.
It's the chipmunk sampling technique, and it's part of the repertoire of producers like Kanye and Just Blaze to name a few. I feel it's a type of boombap beat, that was popular in the Golden Era of hiphop.
Thanks @Fade for saying it was fine. I'm glad someone shares my opinion on the matter.
Fwiw I drew inspiration from the song "oh boy" by Cam'ron, produced by Just Blaze, so yes, the vocal part is repeated over.
It's more than "occasional" so it's arguably infringing the rule.
It's funny though to be called out by the so-called "Discord Gang" who seems to know full-well each other's beats, thus infringing the "all battles are anonymous rule"
Anyway, the decision is to the voters and they decided I was out, maybe because my opponent's beat was simply better.
Peace y'all,
May the best beat win !
Oh ok...Wasn't beat 18 got the problem with.
When it comes to boombap/sampled records style, I'm a bit in two placed with it. In one way i listen n go hmmm it's pushing it a little. But it's slightly different. As that's part of boombap. And beat 18 vocal partsdon't persist too long.
I've had tracks tht have chorus-like samples vocals and i've been hesitant about using due to the rules.
But there's a beat in this battle with 8 bar continuous melodic vocal.
But like I said, if that's considered a "snippet" now, all bets are off.
Well I don't think some could rap/sing over it, it clashes. it makes up a key melodic topline, and is vocals.Well, to me as long as it's "part of the beat" and the rapper can rap over it, I consider it fine...
Stop crying. You were just starting to do so good in here with the not crying all the time gYou know, this been bothering me... when people say rules are for vocal snippets, it shouldn't mean full on chorus of a song and there are two in it now, one I didn't vote for because I thought the other was better and one that was better IMO but had too many vocals which seemed unfair.
I say this because what if other dude had a full chorus, it would add atmosphere and another level to it. I am just stating how "I feel", some might think its cool and all. Whatevs, just kinda got me bothered a bit.
Also, people stop plagiarizing artists music!! Wtf, gotta design some shit while dude just copies melodies, instruments and beats? Cmon, we're better than that.
Rant over, now lets all take a hot shower and get these pants off.
The vocals of #23 was a part of the melody bro. Deal with it and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Fade said it was fine and last I checked he is top dog in here, not you.Wasn't beat 18 got the problem with.

Truth is the vocals were inkomprehensable and it should be clear to everyone they were a part of the melody of what was meant to be the hook/chorus.Ban for the 2 vocal beats, and let the opponents prevail!
Bro, are you serious? If you're referencing to beat #23, it's all gibberish and you can clearly hear that he/she used it as a background instrument, not a full lead or anything. Technically yes, it's a vocal. But in that case, you can debate whether any type of vocal is allowed. (Snippets, human beatbox, intro's, background audience noises etc...)a snippet maybe something that happens once every 4 bars, or at the beginning of every few bars.
If we're allowed a full bar of vocals, the prominently feature for 8 bars and call it a 'snippet', then that definitely changes things.
