Nothing can make up for a lot of practice. If your good enough to sell beats yet to some MCs then move somewhere with a lot of MCs (no offense to Oaklahoma). Then find a job that makes enough money that doesnt take up alot of time or mind strength. Then make beats and sell them to local people. After a while you should get a bigger rep. And if you ever have a more famous rapper come to your city or your at a show, hand out your mixtape to a couple people.

Thats usually how you would get biggeruntil you blow and you always got a way to make some extra money.

yea i thought about video symphony in Hollywood. good location to produce/sell but the cost of living is sooooooo much higher than here. hollywood would also be good to start my "plan B", producing the music that you hear in movies.

i dunno. ive been leaning toward going to a 4 yr for business just in case, then moving and stuff.

Just do you.. It's your life. Just cause your friends are doing nothing with what they learned doesn't mean you can't. Just going to Full Sail aint gonna make you a star or a hot producer. They can only give you the key, you have to open your own doors. Your only as good as your ideas, all the schools in the world can't help you. A beat is an idea and only you can come up with them. I plan on going to Full Sail myself but that's my choice, my money, and my life. I'm a do me. Believe that.

im not downing on people going to school homie. i was already lacing beats before my friends went to school. my freind is too busy being a dj, not technikaly doing nothing. but the fact i was already doing what i wanted , beat wise etc... , i didnt want to jack off the cheese on school.

Exactly what Jewel said....Don't go to a school to learn to make beats....A school cant teach you that....Creativity is all you.....They can teach you some things that will help your beats eg. how to properly EQ, compress, filter differnt things, but even then, a lot of it is how YOU would like it to sounds.....

Full Sail produces world class engineers....As a matter of fact, every single RECORD OF THE YEAR at the GRAMMY'S for the past 10 years, was recorded or mixed by a Full Sail grad....If you look at the charts, about 80% of the tracks or albums on the charts had some sort of involvement with Full Sail graduates....IT IS the best school in the world, but if you have no interest in being an Engineer, then I wouldn't reccommend the school.....

BOTTOM LINE, If you love music, and would like a career in the field, go to Full Sail....If producing is the only thing you wanna do, spend the money on some hot ass equipment, and start banging out tracks...Then work your ASS off and start sending out demo's left right and center....every single record label....every single management group....every single artist you can....build a rep.....hit all the shows.....network with everyone you can.....build relationships.....thats the only way you're gonna make it, unless you get real lucky.....

IN MY OPINION, ITS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW, ITS WHO YOU KNOW....

look at how many hot ass producers there are out there without a deal, not selling tracks, just doing their basement thing....then you can look at some mediocre producers out there like Swizz Beats, and Manny Fresh who are ballin cuz they made decent beats, but knew a shit load of big names to sell em to.....

Anyways this is gettin long...in the end, you gotta do you....then everything is everything....feel me?

thanks for the opinions guys. it really helps. I have decided probably not to go to full sail. the reason I wanted to go was to be able to produce(what i really love) then not have to pay anyone or take the beats anywhere to mix them or master them- i do it ALL myself. now i think i am going to try to get to know the stuff from other people, buy books, maybe go to a studio and ask to start with ANY JOB, sweep floors, clean windows, wipe asses in the bathroom hell i dont know anything. i plan on working my way up, until i get a chance to actually be included in the daily studio life, learning stuff.
hopefully this will save me the full sail stuff and get the same outcome.

ps. im not in a hurry.
