Tried to do a live play-through of a track from a couple months ago for #jamuary. Making videos (even just 1 minute in length) everyday is A LOT. Let's see if I can make it through the month lol. -

@Lightbackdrew Thank you! Once you get a hang of the routing and maybe create a mix template in Maschine mixing can be a bit easier. Hell, back in Uni I used to do EVERYTHING in Maschine (write, arrange, mix, automation). I didn't have Logic Pro yet so I'd just export WAV to GarageBand then... -

@DJ Excellence Loving the atmosphere of the intro and how it switches into the beat and E-piano. Fundamentally, there's nothing wrong here. The beat is super smooth, well mixed, and has a great groove. My only critique is that the vocals don't make the energy. I think the beat may be a bit too... -

@S.o.T.A. This is a very clean beat! Sonically, every element sounds great! Bass tone, funky wah guitar and the E-pianos are clean, but still have that dusty saturated sound which really makes the genre. For a beat that has a lot going on, it never sounds too overwhelming and you do a great... -

Thanks @JM. I mostly use Maschine and Logic. I really enjoy the MPC for drums and samples short licks and notes from Kontakt. This beat was written entirely in Masching then arranged and mixed in Logic. -

@DJ Excellence Very cool ambient vibes going on here with the beat. Drums match the flow/rhythm of the lyrics. While I find you remixes do a great job of matching the overal vibe of the original track, I thought this one was a tad bit off the mark...until the chorus. Well mixed, interesting... -

@DJ Excellence Another great remix. Again, matching the vibe nicely. The drums and flow of the vocals fit perfectly! Simple beat, but the drum variations and spacing of sample chops is great. I would have liked to hear a bit more energy during the chorus, but that's a nit-pick. -

Thanks for the suggestions @K-waz As mentioned, I don't listen to (nor I particularly care for) Trap/Drill. This was really just a personal challenge and a study into the genre. In fact, I find the gliding 808 bass-lines very annoying. But, I did have fun working through this one. -

So I tried to make a "Trap/Drill" beat... ...Admittedly I'm not a particular fan of trap and thought it would be a good way to challenge myself. Through the process I realized making these styles of beats is actually quite a lot of fun. Also, it's not as easy at it seems. Working at 140 BPM... -

@PSYCH0 The drums are cool and I like the processing on the vocal chops. The vibe is grimey and dark which I like. That pumping pad sound takes up a lot of the sonic space and I feel like it makes the mix a bit muddy. It's a work in progres, so I'm curious to see how the final product shapes... -

@MA-Beatz Cool sample and great bounce. The vocals really help accentuate the overall groove of the beat. My only critique is that it sounds a bit disjointed. It's either the hook or breakdown section of a full song. Mix could use a bit of work, but doesn't take away from the listening...
