    i use live 7 to play live with, so pretty hardcore on it...i wouldnt use it for production tho, not as a sequencer, it is good as a beat box IMO, that is its best use in the studio...but for live shows, it is the shit, the absolute shit!

    have you tried parallel (New York) compression? basically send you drums (and bass) to a seperate buss (or line mixer) hook up a compressor/limiter in the classic send return config, squash the fuck out of it, say at least 20db of GR (you can do that a number of ways but ultimately bout 20dbs)...
