Well, since good hip-hop has been few and far between these last couple of years, I've been constantly looking for something to fill that gap. I found out about Boards of Canada when they released their Geogaddi album... I can't recommend their music enough. It's hard to describe what type of music it is, but it's mostly electronic based. The music is incredible, here's some youtube vids of some selected favorites.

There's a lot more songs, but I'll keep it at that for now...

Pug, please don't tell me we're losing you too. I know you never really called yourself "hip hop" from what I read in other threads but you're just as much "hip hop" as anyone else is imo. Being different is hip hop. If you were into the music, then you had hip hop in your blood and thats all it takes. I really don't know where to direct you for good music, unlike before, hip hop was thrown at you from every angle and you had the luxury of picking and choosing, nowadays you have to search for it. It's still here but you have to dig and find it. Boards of Canada is some good stuff but like you said..."it's not hip hop". Hang in there, just dig a little, the days of it being thrown in your face are gone, don't let that discourage you.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Dac, and you are 100% correct with everything you said. I haven't given up completely, I still look out for new stuff, like Damu the Fudgemonk, and guys like the Sharpshooters (well they haven't put anything out recently, but they put out some killer stuff in the 2000s). I still pick for hip-hop when I go diggin, and buy some 12s when I can. Hip-hop will always be in the blood as you say, but because that steady flow of goodness has slowed down, I'm reaching into new places (mostly Jamaican stuff...), and it also gives me a break from over listening to what I already got!

I did make beats, but my apartment is now too small to setup my ASR-10. Sadly. Next apartment, I'm back up!
