Midi Problems ..... Pro Tools ..... Sync?

Hey, There are a ton of advantages with using MTC, and these are why so many people use it when transferring data from one device into another.. 1. There is error correction built into MTC. MTC is made up of a series of 'quarter frame messages' which tell the recording device what position...

MPC .wav files to Cubase SX....

Hey, We're hoping that he won't have to convert anything! If he's lucky, whatever program he uses will import is Akai program directly without having to convert it. I'm sure that the MPC can save out in either s1000/3000 files, it would be really really stupid of Akai to not include that...

While were at it - Who's the Most Overrated Rapper?

Hey, 50 Cent and 2-Pac. They're popular because they're controversial, not because they're good. If I hear another 50 Cent or 2-Pac song in WalMart, I'm going to shoot myself. Nick

    Pentium 4 vs. Celeron

Hey, What's important, Truth, is to look for the programs you want to run, then find out what platforms they run on. If you like Sonar, don't get a Mac; if you like Logic, don't get a PC. Take care, Nick

    Wavelab

Hey, Wavelab=Sound Forge=Cool Edit=Samplitude. They're all wave editors. One could argue for days about how one program has this while the other one doesn't....all you need to know is that it is a wave editor, you use it to do some pretty detailed sample-level editing of sounds...

Midi Problems ..... Pro Tools ..... Sync?

Hey, You should be using MTC as your sync format, not MIDI clock...it has a much much higher resolution. I don't know if your version of PT can generate time code; if it can't, turn on the SMPTE/MTC clock on the MPC and have PT slave to it. Take care, Nick

    Best RECORDING/MIXING SOFTWARE?

Hey, For recording/mixing, Cool Edit is perfect, it has a ton of tools and editing power to make your tracks a lot better. For MIDI sequencing, something like Sonar or Cubase will do the trick. You'll need sounds as well: my personal favorite is harware synths, but you can get some...

MPC .wav files to Cubase SX....

Hey, No problem, I learn a lot by answering questions. There are only a few Cubase users here... Yes, the programs. A program contains both the wav data and the sample information, like key assignment, velocity, filters, envelopes, LFO's, amp, pitch, etc. I don't know if Sampletank can...

    Best RECORDING/MIXING SOFTWARE?

Hey, Cool Edit Pro!!! He he he.... a little biased, but it truly is one hell of a program. And for the money, you'd be hard pressed to find anything else which offers the same ease of use and features. For MIDI, though, it blows. Nick

MPC .wav files to Cubase SX....

Hey, 1. You can import the wav files by inserting them directly into an audio track. You won't be able to trigger them, though, you'll have to arrange them on the tracks manually. 2. To remedy this, you can get a software sampler and simply load the Akai program into it and trigger them...
