    yea I would NOT do that with a limiter on the master, with herself as a side chain. I don't know that doing that makes sense actually. In theory her vocals could trigger herself kinda. These days I refuse to use a limit on the master and it may be more natural to just automate your volume on her...

    Yea I have done both. I think if it’s a proper release a mastering engineer is worth their weight in gold. It can make all the difference. But if it’s not in the budget, get to learning and do it yourself.

    Yea in going to have to disagree with this guy. If you are mastering things yourself, in your home studio then maybe. But if you are taking them to a proper mastering engineer you want a LOT of headroom. Personally I like dynamic mixes that breath.

I am the Bass player In this band and we are always working on production IE: getting the lighting just right with the song etc. This is the end of our fourth one hour set. We play four hours total when we play and it goes 9pm to 1:30am ish depending on the breaks...
