    New Beef... Old Meat

Hey, That beat is terrible, I didn't even get to the rapping part. The 'beef' part is scripted, I'm sure, just like all that nonsense on Paradise Hotel. Nick

    Recording from line-in

Hey, NO!!!! Never ever ever ever ever ever ever think that you can turn down the recording input levels from within Cool Edit! (I'm trying to make a point here....:D) Cool Edit has NOTHING to do with input levels. Cool Edit is a retarded program that rides the short yellow bus to...

    Recording from line-in

Hey, 1. In the MT there are real time effects in CEP, you simply load something like a dynamics processor (under Amplitude) to squash the drums a little. 2. You've answered your own question: turn it down! If you right-click on the VU meter, you can select an option to preview meters during...

    roland edirol pc-70

Hey, It looks like just another controller, nothing too special about it. How much is 'cheap' exactly? Edirol makes much nicer ones which have sliders and knobs on it, very cool if you want to control your software sequencers and synths. Take care, Nick

just got my pc... need cubase and kontakt help...

Truth, You have to load Kontakt as a virtual instrument in Cubase, then you have to select Kontakt as your MIDI device on a MIDI track in Cubase. You don't have to run Kontakt separately, though, Cubase will load it for you. Take care, Nick

    Who's in Control?

Hey, From the point of view of someone who doesn't listen to hip hop, it looks like MTV and a couple of big names are in control (Jay-Z, Dre, Busta, Puff Daddy, etc.), they've got their fingers in EVERYTHING. Nick

    Beats For GOOd

Hey, In order for your ASR to be able to save data to a cd-rom, it has to have software which will allow it to recognise a drive as a CD burner, and it has to know how to write to the drive. I would be surprised if the ASR was able to do this. If you wanted to save to a Zip drive, you will...

    midi controller

Hey, A MIDI controller is basically any piece of hardware which can transmit MIDI information. Most of the time when we talk about controllers, we mean keyboards. Most keyboards have sounds in them, but there are a few that don't have any sounds at all, all they do is send note information...

Do you have to clear breakbeat samples???

Hey, I'm not a lawyer, but I'll bet the initial pressing of the Dusty Fingers stuff is illegal as hell. And just because a track has been rereleased on a compilation, even if it was done legally, doesn't mean that the initial copyrights and publishing stuff don't apply anymore. If this...

Korg Triton Vs. Korg Triton Le

Hey, You can install a sampler option in the LE, you can read about it here: http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?A_PROD_NO=EXBSMPL I think that the bigger versions of the Triton come with more effects, the Pro version comes with 5 inserts, two masters and a global eq; the LE comes with 1...

Do you have to clear breakbeat samples???

Hey, Are you talking about sample cd's you get at Guitar Center? If you bought it, you should be allowed to use the samples in your songs because you purchased a licence which allows you that right. If it's a bootleg disc, you're probably not allowed to use them. The basic rule I like to...

    Best Beat Ever

Hey, A three-way tie between "Follow the Leader", "Lyrics of Fury" and "No Competition" by Eric B. and Rakim. The best thing about those tracks is that they're all on one album, and they destroy anything you hear on the radio today. Any genre? How about "Only the Young" by Journey. Nick

Get in Where ya fit in....

Yo, Nobody has explored yet the diverse world of Hip Hop and Irish 'jig' music. Imagine, a concert featuring the great minds of DJ Kay Slay and Michael Flatley...it would be billed "The Drama King and Lord of the Dance, by special engagement..." Nick

    Your image...

Hey, Everyone is trying to be 'different', yet they're afraid to rap over country or zydeco music. Even to my own music (which I think is ligitimately different than a lot of the stuff that you hear on the streets), people say 'it isn't really hip hop' because it IS different. The only...

Enough is Enough (for a minute anyway)

LOL HOLA Seriously, though, it feels like my words are coming out of your mouth (so to speak). This is why I like old heavy metal so much, it's about having fun and not giving a damn... Nick
