most hood city in the US(what are your picks)

Haven't been to other cities that much but I gotta say New Orleans and Baltimore are top cuz I heard New Orleans has the highest poverty rate and with what they're goin through right now prolly raised it even more. Nas Really did pay $2 Mill for the beat from Pharell. It's official..

$2 Mill for ANY beat is ridiculous. I don't think a dude like Nas would pay that money just for 1 beat. Pharell isn't that great, IMO anyways.

    Software or Hardware?

Wow, that sounds dope as anything man. Some LOTR type of instrumental and the percussion is crazy. I wish I could afford that. :frown: And thanks for the mixer tip, I might get one later, but for now, I think I'm good.

    Fight Klub 2

Anyone see the battles on BET on Friday or Saturday, one of those days? They just showed the battle scenes and told you who won. I was kinda dissapointed by who won cuz it was Jin vs. Joe Serious(or something like that) and I mean, Jin was actually flowing and freestyling and the other dude came...

Ah, alright, I got it now. Less is more. Thanks, I'm gonna try and put that into my next beat and thanks for clarifying everybody, cuz the articles I've read said that compression is necessary for Hip-Hop production, but I'm def. gonna try what you guys mentioned.

    Ahhhhhhhhh!

I already told you I did do research and I know I have to learn it myself but I was asking for tips or other things you guys learned from. And I took your advice into mind, that's why I responded back saying that I read in an article about compression being very important and necessary. I...

    Ahhhhhhhhh!

What would to recommend reading? @ whoever said you don't need compression on drums, I read in an article that compression was what industry producers use to get their drums bangin.
  18. N

    Ahhhhhhhhh!

Man, EQing these things are getting me pissed and I know I already made a thread about it, but I can't seem to get my mixes sounding like everyone elses with the drums kicking through nicely. Also, do you guys just lay one compression on a kick for example or multiple compressors? ANYTHING will...

    The Original Sound of Hip-Hop

Why are you surprised? I was just curious to know because like everyone said in this thread, Hip-Hop basically has no boundaries, you could take a sample from any genre and turn it into a blazing beat. It's infinite and that's one thing I love about it man. You can do anything and turn it into...
