MPC5000 looks awesome!
OK, but are you certain this is how the MPC operates? It seems to me that the eight "direct record tracks" stream from hard disk, beginning to end, however all other samples are loaded into ram and triggeredfrom ram. -

I don't think the 5000 allows you to trigger samples from hard disk, otherwise they would have said it in the press release. The 5000 does have an eight track recorder which streams from hard disk (similiar to a roland vs or korg d series recorder), however normally if you want to manually... -

Thanks Sanova, appreciate it. Regaring the tapping beats live, it's always a work in progress. I've had an MPC since 97, however it was only last year is when I started playing everything simultaneously. In the past I would put each sound on 16 levels velocity and do one thing at a time... -

Ash is right on. I thought it was a big let down, I was expecting the new 4000, it's just a 2500 with some more features. No 24bit is a killer, almost all sample libraries are now 24bit/44.1, so you'd still have to waste time converting samples to load into it. 192mb memory is a joke, I got... -

I just want to add one thing. Even though automation is now the norm wtih pro tools, a lot of the predigital mixdowns like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys and Stetsasonic are as good (and definitely more interesting to the ears IMO) then a lot of the new mixes done today.
