I spent seven minutes watching the Akai rep make a beat on the MPC5000 today. That got me inspired to turn on the MPC and tap a quick beat out. Wifey just got a new camera, so hoping to do more videos this year.

Two more weeks til this album I been working on is done, looking forward to making some new music this year.

All the best,
Jay aka dahkter

Thanks Sanova, appreciate it.

Regaring the tapping beats live, it's always a work in progress. I've had an MPC since 97, however it was only last year is when I started playing everything simultaneously. In the past I would put each sound on 16 levels velocity and do one thing at a time. That worked too (actually a bit easier when you're playing to a click on a loop, it's hard to play live and exactly on beat, a lot of time the loop flips and I find out I had sped up or slowed down).

It's all good, as long as the end result (the song) is live, it makes no difference how you do it.

I'm out the door for some good food, peace y'all...

Nice video, very well done. Me too I have a hard time banging shit out like that in 1 take, for now I'll stick to my basics!

P.S. I fixed the youtube embed for you. Just use the YouTube icon you see above when you're posting and put the ID from the URL.
