    To All FL Studio Users!!!!

If you were to go out and buy either one today, this is what you would get for your money: Reason3 costs $399 at Musicians Friend. FL Studio 7 XXL is $366 directly from Image Line and boxed it's $339 at Musicians Friend. If I want to, I can add WASP to it for another $29, Reason has two...

    Better Brand In Drum Machines

Roland R8mkII. King of all drum machines. Sometimes I miss mine (and my old R8 and R5)

    To All FL Studio Users!!!!

I've used both for years. Reason's weakness is it's lack of VST support. That alone pushes FL Studio directly in front of Reason in many ways. Being a modular app gives FL the edge that Cubase, Logic, and ProTools already have, and it's something Reason will likely NEVER have. Want full on...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

I still work in IT (maybe 25% of the time now). My primary function is as a multi-dicipline engineer, but I'm in demand as one of the few of us with an IT background (Unix, AS/400, Win32, and VAX). It's all good money. I say what I do 'cause I work with the stuff every day, I have to stay...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

seriously dude... this is getting irritating. The Core 2 is a two to four CORE processor. The Xeon 5100/5300 is the workstation/server variant of that processor and is also available as a two or four core processor. The Xeon is the processor behind the Mac Pro and Dell's Precision line of...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

even after I proved otherwise... SMH as you move upscale, macs become more expensive for less of a machine. I've already shown an example of that.

Dawg... can you READ??? Taken DIRECTLY frim Intel's site: "Intel® Core™2 Duo processor The power to perform. With power-optimized enabled dual-core technology and exceptional energy efficiency, the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor excels running the most intense applications." The Core 2...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

maybe you need to read that statement again and retract it when you figure out where the problem with it is... I'll wait... Core 2 Duo Processors ARE DUAL CORE!!! The machines I spec'ed out use better-than-core2-duo Xeon 5100 and 5300 series processors. The Mac Pro and Dell...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

as I said, I simply priced out a machine comparable to what I have here at my desk. I need the video card here 'cause I use it for mechanical, electrical, and software engineering apps as well as CGI (which assists in the ME aspect of my job) Fiber Channel??? ha! SAS is nearly as fast as...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

ok... let's see if what you're saying is true. One of my workstations at my desk here in the office is a Dell Precision 690. I've always said that this thing would make a great DAW, especially since mine has 15K RPM Serial Attached SCSI drives in a RAID1 configuration. I went over to Apple and...

Is it really worth it getting a mac

You'll have to look pretty hard to find a copy of Logic for PC. It does support Rewire, VST's, and all that jazz, but IMO it's a pain to work with. That's why I don't use it anymore.

Some things you forgot: Logic WAS PC/Mac compatible. I still have my copy of Logic 5.5.1. If I were to install it and create something with it, it can still be opened on a mac. SoundForge PC only Acid Pro pc only Reason both Recycle both Nuendo both While each platform has apps...

if i could do it all again... i would not buy...

I wouldn't have bought: Yamaha Mu5 - I needed instrument sounds, and it delivered to a point. A Sound Canvas or MU50 would have been a better investment. Yamaha TX7 - I got more use out of my twin Yamaha TX81z's. The TX7 is ok for 80's electric pianos and House-styled organs, but unless I...

Industry Standard... But For How Long?

It was already done. http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM01/Content/EMU_ENSONIQ/PR/PARIS-Pro.html The Ensoniq Paris system was, at the time I was originally introduced to it (1998), the most powerful DAW you could buy. The problem was that it was introduced at a time when Digidesign had...

anyone knows a real soft synth for acoustic instruments?

You're quite wrong. RAM WILL help apps load faster by reducing the a OS's use of it's page file. The page file is virtual memory, when your PC runs out of physical RAM, the OS resorts to using a file stored on your hard drive as RAM. Even if your PC is equipped with screaming fast hard drives...

anyone knows a real soft synth for acoustic instruments?

Hate to be the one to break this to you, but Korg Legacy Digital (M1 and Wavestation) DOES use samples. The only acoustic sounds you're gonna get out of Reason are sampled sounds. What you need are physical modeling plugins. They use complex algorithms to recreate sounds instead of samples...

thinking about going back to pc after many years of mac usage

I know it's not '98 anymore. This is my current motherboard: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/K7_Master266.htm MSI K7 Master-S. That's an Ultra 160SCSI on there. I have a pair of 18GB Fujitsu U160 drives on it (10K RPM, but that's all I could find). It's old as shit, but still...

thinking about going back to pc after many years of mac usage

wow... I mean... f_ckin WOW!!! Y'all must not have been around for too long. You can comfortably fly 24 tracks of audio off of a 5400RPM drive as long as the interface you're using is fast enough. To give you an example, my first serious DAW machine was a Pentium 233MMX machine with 128MB...

Industry Standard... But For How Long?

You have a Digi001, don't you? I feel ya tho. I have an AMIII card and a copy of PTLE 5.01 for Win98SE, PTLE 6.1, AND 6.8 for my Audiophile 192. The only reason I use PT is to send out sessions. I'm far more productive in Cubase/FL 6 than ProTools.
