seen this somewhere, dont know where... figured I'd start it here.

i wouldnt buy:

Yamaha QX21 2trk sequencer: terrible investment

Vestafire 4 trk cassette recorder: fake Portastudio

Yamaha SY 35 synth: a good synth no doubt, but i shouldve waited and bought the Roland XP50/80 workstation

Boss DR220e: yep, i shouldve just saved my money

Yamaha MD8, 8 trk minidisc recorder: another machine with no lifespan

Yamaha SU700: if i wouldve known the RS7000 was comin, i wouldve scrapped EVERYTHING...lol

also, the Philips and Sony 5 tray CD recorders: one (Philips) cant read all cd formats, while the other (Sony) gives u so little for a bigger price (no FF or RW...wtf???!!!)

Now, the machines that held me down chronologically over the years:

Casio CZ101 synth: still got it... will never give it up.
Casio RZ1 Drum machine: it introduced me to drum samplin... got smashed under the bed a few yrs back, while i was "smashin" on tha bed...lol... sad loss.
Alesis MMT8 8 trk sequencer... still got trx on it that need to be midi recorded over to the RS.
Alesis SR16 Drum machine: one of the best soundin drums in the business, and the cheapest rite now.
Akai S950: LEGENDARY!

And obviously what i have now:

RS7000
Korg ER1
Nord Lead2
Alesis Fusion
Korg D16XD

and my new baby: Tascam CDRW402 Dual tray recorder "PROFESSIONAL" as it states on the front!

damn... took me 20 yrs to be happy and satisfied...lol

akg k701's...amazing headphones but no bass whatsoever, so much for using them for hip hop production.

focusrite saffire pro audio interface...crap a/d conversion, crashes my osx system consistenly during sessions.

I wouldn't have bought:

Yamaha Mu5 - I needed instrument sounds, and it delivered to a point. A Sound Canvas or MU50 would have been a better investment.

Yamaha TX7 - I got more use out of my twin Yamaha TX81z's. The TX7 is ok for 80's electric pianos and House-styled organs, but unless I needed those sounds, it sat unused.

Fostex FD4 - Had it for a brief moment. Actually liked using it, but the fact that I had to ship it out to Fostex to get a hard drive installed internally (at a cost of $150) made it suck. I actually did a little bullshit techno-ish track with the FD4, a Zip100 connected to it, Peavey Deltafex Twin on FX, and my Sequential Multi-Trak (http://www.geocities.com/labwerx/dopple.mp3)

Sequential Prophet 10 - Cost me $1500 dollars for this massive, double keyboard analog monster. I used it on ONE fuckin track and sold it.

Roland S550 - I shoulda bought an Akai S950

Yamaha TX16W - I shoulda bought another Akai S950

Digidesign Audiomedia III - Digi stopped supporting it with PTLE 6.1.1 for no fucking reason. It sucks 'cause it's the only pro level audio interface I have that I can't use as a general purpose audio card (My Audiophile 192 and Fast Track USB both work with anything I can throw at it!). Oh well... It does work as an ASIO card.

Nice..
I HATE the Triton RACK sequencer..REALLY..Doooooont doooooo iiiiiiiiiiitttttt..
I did a whole album with it , and only those with intimate knowledge of it will actually appreciate THAT fact and consider it a classic..lol
The sequencer is shit!
Unless you LIKE just using the metronome for EVERY track without the prior accompanying music playing like every other piece of gear can give you....lol
Otherwise its alot of fun!
Why is everythiing Korg have to be a mindmeld eh?
