    Dark Boom Bap Beat

Thanks @Dusty B The strings were pulled from soul record. Big wet reverb, re-sampled, and a slow attack. Then grabbed some flute trills from a Vivaldi concert to layer on top. To your point, I also found it a bit repetitive after a bit hence going back and trying to add some pianos. Again...

Mobb Deep Meets Wile E Coyote

Different from that typical Havoc/Alchemist beat, but still has the gritty quality of both of them. Love the drums - they have space and you hear them in a room. Cool beat and cool visuals.

Posting my first beat, let me know what you guys think

Similar to your other beat, The tempo is a bit too fast I think. Or the piano lines are a bit too busy. Great musical qualities to the piece, but it doesn't have the space to breathe and have the beauty of it shine through. All elements work well together, but I think the groove may be a bit...

Traptasitc - one of my few trap beats. Don't go this route too often. What do you think?

Honestly, not my jam. That being said, you're always coming out with unique, experimental stuff. While this may not be my type of jam, I can appreciate the fact that you're re-drawing the boundaries of what "should" be a hip-hop beat.

"Making Waves" - First beat of 2024!

Love the vibe of this. The lofi pianos at 0:32 are a total vibe! The arrangement/introduction of new elements are very well executed. Smooth and seamless. Not a trap fan, but the drums fit this vibe perfectly!

Let me know what you guys think of this beat, if there are any wizards at mixing and mastering that can help me shine this up i would appreciate it.

I really like the piano intro. And the introduction of the lower chords. I think maybe the tempo is a bit too fast? It's a very interesting melody with some beautiful movement, but at this tempo it's a bit rushed...maybe a bit too busy. Personally, not a fan of trap/trap-style drums, but it...

    Samurai Champloo!

Love the use of percussion and dialogue samplers. The eastern flutes and chops are all great. Very grimy RZA-esque vibes on this joint. Thanks for sharing!

    Dark Boom Bap Beat

Thanks man, Fleshing full/entire song structures is admittedly not my strong suit. The week I made this I was super busy getting back to work after the holidays too.

    What DAW are you using?

Maschine software & Logic Pro Maschine: Sampling & Chopping Playing Pads Step Sequencer Overall capabilities of the Sampler This all make the Maschine an incredibly creative way to get ideas out, manipulate and quickly lay down grooves. While I prefer linear arranging, The scenes/patterns...

Maschine Plus - Grim/Dark Rap Beat

Thanks @InsideOutBeats it's not the cleanest/best mix - but the focus for the past week has been just to get as comfortable as possible with the Maschine Plus and explore all the capabilities that apply to my workflow and the type of music I make. Cheers,

Welcome @Leopard Cohen Good to see another Canuck in here!

    DAW + MPC 1000 Workflow

@Iron Keys Don't know how I missed your question...my apologies. What I mean by trimming samples to create neat 4 bars loops, I mean getting it as tight as possible - particularly the start and end points. You could easily avoid this by exporting perfect loops from your DAW. I usually just...

    Vintage MPCs

I was seriously considering the JJOS upgrade, but I thought I would get more longevity out of Maschine. Maybe some time down the line I'll still go for it. The big thing lacking in Maschine+ is the I/O. Compared to the 1000 it really falls short.

“Make it Through The Night” Somewhere in Dreamland

Very dope process man. And I definitely agree with you with respect to chopping live. One of my favourite things to do is record long guitar jams over my beats, then completely mangle them by chopping. Like you said, I'll end up with a ton of different variations and patterns. Sometimes I'll...

    Vintage MPCs

I started using the Maschine MK1 in December of 2011. In summer 2018 I went for the Mikro Mk3. Fall 2022 I bought an MPC 1000. The 1K is an incredible piece of kit considering it's 20 years old. The thing I like the most is the MIDI. With all these manufacturers going to MIDI over USB...

    Maschine + Logic 3-Peat || Ambient Lo-Fi

Went for the hat trick this weekend! Logic was used a bit more extensively for this one. Specifically, it was used for the FX automation and bus processing. Again, most everything was written in Maschine Plus standalone mode. There are about 3 different FM8 patches on here. I know it's been...

“Make it Through The Night” Somewhere in Dreamland

Great blend of vinyl/acoustic drums and synths! The way you chopped and filtered the vocal through the verse is incredibly creative...and wildly effective. It's adding ear candy, rhythm and harmonic value to the beat. Did you tune the siren/swell sound? Because it fits perfectly. There's not...

    Ghetto

Digging the drums and vocal samples. The feedback sample adds a lot of atmosphere along with the delayed horns. The piano is just a bit too dissonant for my liking. There's definitely an audience for more abstract-avant garde. Overall, some very cool elements in here.

Maschine Plus - Grim/Dark Rap Beat

I've been listening to a lot of mid-2000s rap, particularly the mixtape stuff lately. Coupled with @Dusty B inspiring me to tap into my Rock/Metal roots, I thought I'd give a go at trying to make one of those Grim/Dark mixtape style beats from that era where 8 rappers would jump on a track and...

synth type, experimental type, hard drums | "Stress Test"

Again with the banging drums! There are alot of super cool elements and ear-candy in this beat. I love how well each section flows into the next. Your arrangements really are great. The little fills, stutters, and glitches do a lot to tie each section of the beat together. Sound choice is...
