Your opinion about those software

Hey I'm trying to find out which software I need to get started with making beats on my computer. I can't afford to rent a studio, or to use high-end gear, but I want to play around and see if I'm still interested in it in a few weeks.

I was searching for beat making software and stumbled across this list: http://www.mybeatmakers.com/beat-making-software/ Which software on there would be my best bet as a beginner and which software should I avoid? Is there anything that's not on that list that I should check out? I don't want to miss something that'll be perfect for me just cos I didn't look around / ask around enough so I'm just trying to do my research. Thanks!

It can be difficult to get the right software because there's so much out there, but it depends on what you want to do, and what your current setup is (or will be).

What do you have right now? Any software or hardware?

Here's what I recommend for software: https://www.illmuzik.com/shop/category/?cat=software. They will take you to the Amazon site but you can also just look them up on the manufacturer's site and see if there's a demo (most of them have one).

If you don't have anything right now, then I would recommend Reason. It's got everything in it. If you have some equipment right now then there's other DAWs that you can take a look at. They're all good.

True, for what you want to do...experiment, test the waters, Abelton/Reason would be my suggestion. But if you go deeper into it, keep in mind they're all different. The concept may be the same, but some things can't be done in other D.A.W's. Example, Midi in Adobe Audition cs6. And from my experience, some say you can't tell the difference between the sound engine's. Not True! Another thing to consider is a MPC Element. They're pretty cheap.

Good luck!

uh no, sound cards with different digital clocks and different digital to analog converters will sound different. The mix engines in a DAW however will sound the same, try a null test yourself and see. But that is not the topic of this thread, if you would like to create a new one with DAW summing null tests or something like that for the title then we can discuss it there. But this discussion just clouds the water of someone just starting out.
