well all that software stuff is great but then u gt to learn how to use it....then ure stuck with 1 million diff sounds....where do u start? so in my opinion classic is right man...if u have live musicians who really know what they r doin...u could get real DR. Dre on the beats......But if I did have to go with some hardware it would have to be an ssl console or a stereo pair of ssl channel strips....Patch your MPC....KEyboard or what ever u use through this baby and you will have the phattest sounding Kicks,...tightest snares...etc... then have those live musicians play what ever u want them to play through that and the sound will be so warm....and have so much depth unlike these digitl recording software we ure all acustom to.....I have a pretty bad ass digital studio and it still dont sound so bad asss....

Keyboard/Sound Module: Roland Fantom X8, Korg Triton Studio, Proteus 2000, Mo Phatt, MPC 1000

DAW: Pro Tools "HD3" 192 i/o, Contol 24 mixing Console, Mac G5

Microphones: Neumann U87, AKG C414, Sure SM 57

i just noticed, besides Nomics, who sort of changed his mind halfway through, NOBODY mentioned the most important thing to any dream studio

PRO TOOLS HD RIG!! It is by far the most important thing in every major studio in the world. For me, I gotta have at least a Pro Tools HD3 Accel, two 192i/o's, a sync i/o, a midi i/o. These are necessities in ANY major studio....
