To people that dont know me, they would assume im negative, thats just me. Im me and I wont change that for anyone, Im not out to make freinds when I post stuff about some of the things our govts have been caught in the act doing. Im trying to wake others up to some of the harsh realities of life, many people cannot accept some of my opinions as truth, so be it. Fucking hell we are in different continents, let alone countries. I have a certain amount of respect for LDB, he is very helpful to other members, and contibutes alot to the site, as well as making some dope beats, I recognize that, but then at the same time LDB you have a split personality. You can take personal swipes at me as much as you like, it doesnt bother me honestly. I got over bullying when I was in junior school. knwolegde is power ... but it also is hurtful. knowedge gives way for doubt and second guessing ur self. "knowledge" can hurt u as much as it can help you. Esp when it comes to your own goals in life. In some cases, knowledge just gives you another excuse to not try something. knowledge can lead to fear of failure and fear of succeess as well. it kinda pushes you To go the "safe and familiar" route. Some people cant see beyond what they can reason or calculate. So they spend their life researching and analyzing instead of getting anything done. Ignorance can be a useful tool sometimes. "knowledge" would have kept bill gates in school instead of dropping out and making billions. knowledge prolly would have kept kanye from becoming a great producer and going through what he went through. Im sure evrybody told bill gates he was dumb for dropping outta school but look at him now. He believed in something and pursued it. against all "reasonable" logic. Taking chances is way more fun than overanalyzing and pyching ur self out. cuz honestly that what is sounds like u r doing 2good. im in no way trying to offend u or anything, but u have no problem making a list of why u shouldnt/cant put something out but u havent even gave a reason as too why u should put something out. Like i said before, maybe if u belive so strongly in ur political/world views, incorporate that into the music. i bet alot of people will dig it. I just want to add, dont get me wrong, Im am in no way scared to take chances. The time I have put into production alone is a risk in itself. I have already invested a good amount of time and money into my music "career",
The thing for me at this exact moment in time is money, that is it. I simply do not have enough to go around.
If I had a grand to spend, I would get my PRS membership, press a few cds and distribute to publishers, get a good music lawyer. I simply do not have the funds, I am in the best paid job ive ever had, but yet my outgoings take away most of that income, saving for these things is a time consuming process with bills always coming at the wrong time. Im stuck in a financial rut, that is all. I really do have the belief that I can make a career out of music and would love to be able to take the risk. Every small business is a risk to start, I know this, Im also willing to take the risk. I hate the govt for the situation they have created for me and hundreds of thousands of others who cant afford to buy their home and because the council properties have all been sold to the private sector, we then have to rent from the private sector at a much higher cost. Along with ever rising taxes, fuel bills, food bills, its a pretty fucked up situation. Im not trying to make any excuse for my faliure to be doing it all already, I only blame my own lack of self promotion, and lack of prioritizing certain steps towards success. Im working on saving up for the next big thing which is my PRS membership, that will ensure my royality payments from things like beats used for adverts on tv in a program or even a film. etc. Im confident with my current production ability, just working on saving the cash.

Oh and as for getting a life, my life is work, pay the bills, get as much as I can afford for the 3 kids I have plenty of life.
Taking my music to the best I can get it is the mission to make the work bring in more, work that I enjoy, and a life that is confortable and not worrying about where Im going to get the money to pay a bill every month. And to provide a life for my 3 kids that I myself didnt have the opportunity to enjoy. I have friends, I dont spend all my time indoors. But I do spend most of my "spare" time making music improving my music, improving my keyboard skills, improving drum patterns always trying to improve. I say spare time, but some weeks I dont get much of it at all. All this and yet I still struggle to pay the bills.
For me there isnt enough hours in a day, so to say get a life is misinformed.

I think its pretty naive of hip-hop fans to believe that pools do NOT exist - If I, the record label am investing millions into an act, why wouldn't I get the best songwriters that I could pay the least amount of money to work with that artist to churn out #1 hits.

Hip-Hop used to be deep rooted in individualism and creativity - and the fact that it primarily was a "live" artform performed at block parties/park jams etc. When it migrated to the studio, then the industry got hold of it.

The artist is the "face". In fact, to listen to two male A&R's (for example) discuss an up and coming male artist makes me queasy and uneasy the way it quickly turns away from musical content and into his look, muscles and all other comments of that nature.

Hell, Rapper's Delight was ghostwritten so it's been going on in hip-hop (music in general) more than people care to admit - Good post and excellent points raised.

To get this back on topic. I don't see anything wrong with writing pools. If you Emcee for a living I'm sure there can come a time when you just can't put a song together. Hell, RnB artist have been doing something similar forever and a day. At the end of the day it's about what you're in it for I guess. When you're doing music to earn a living you have to do what you have to do to get shit done. The record labels that cut the checks don't care where the material comes from. They just want a hit or something very close to it, and the average consumer really could give a flying fuck.
