I just started producing and i wanted to know how can i write catchy riffs on my piano? And how do i construct a song?

learn how to play piano. if you go to the resources section, there's a 9 week series on learning how to play piano. it takes serious practice if you're serious about music making.

and listen to a lot of different kinds of music.

there is no set formula... if u know how to play piano then u just play what is in your head or come up with varations..

let me just set the record straight.. the knowledge of playing piano is only essential to playing piano.

you don't NEED to know how to play to come up wit 'catchy' melodies. It might actually make it harder cuz you're trying to do things correctly. It all starts with imagination and creativity. If you sit down at your workstation thinking how hard it is to come up with shit... your not gonna come up wit shit.

But if you sit down vibin' then, you prolly gon get into the groove faster.

I was gonna say ...Being able to play piano could be a curse as well if Mass is asking that question..I dont"PLay" exactly, but the only thing I can do on a piano is play an original riff..lol, and dont ask me to play it twice!

You could try and write it around a vocal phrase, using the amount of syllables as a basis. Just one way of approaching it
