Words of Wisdom?

Of all the artists/musicians/creative people you've met in your life, what are some words of wisdom you've been told regarding playing/recording/composing music?

For me, two of the wisest words I was ever told was:

"be original"

I think a lot of people are trying to sound exactly like someone else instead of being inspired by people and incorporating it into their own unique style and sound. Too much straight biting, not enough fresh original tracks.
