I work as an armed guard @ the local university. I share my shift with a local trance producer who is fairly famous around the globe. He does dark\progressive trance.
The past few days, I've had pretty long conversations with this guy... He said i'm flying in space + i'm a loser because I don't heavily promote myself and my music. Plus, he could not understand why I even bother to produce underground music, and why I don't make any $$$ out of my music. He said that in his eyes, i'm not a professional - he thinks i'm a dumb lil' kid who does not understand the "rules" of the industry.
Needless to say - I haven't told him anything about myself and my craft, only told him that I create underground hip hop + some other basic info (he doesn't know what underground hip hop is LOL). I sorta play along and encourage him to explain further & share his "wisdom"
He is certain I don't know anything about production etc', he tried to explain me some production insights he thinks I should know (very basic shit). He tells me: "don't use many samples because your audio will sound like shit. Loudspeakers are shit, if you don't use monitors, your sound is initially shitty and that's it. I bet your music sounds like mud."
He thinks that: "when you collaborate, it's not really your music. the MC is the real star. The producer is just a secondary sideman. Collaborations are for wack producers who are not certain about their music". And then he adds:"you are only 21. you don't know anything about life. let me teach you & guide you how you should act". And then he goes on rumbling for like 3 hours nonstop. HAHA!!!
Why am I telling you this? Because, you see, ordinary folk can't (and would never be able to) understand our life, our spiritual journey, our artistic path. They find us to be amusing hobbyists (at best) who don't know shit. Morons who spend their time for free. They take us for simpletons.
If only he knew who WINGS really is haha! I don't give a damn about heavy promotion, money, fame etc'. That's how I be, word life.
