Uhhh, the clowns who say that making beats using a 'keyboard' are ignorant idiots. Sounds are either acoustic, analogue or digital: acoustic would be mic'ed guitars and drums, analogue would be some old synth with analogue oscillators, digital covers samplers and most modern synths.
Once you record it onto your hard drive, sampler or cd, it is digital.
So, the guys who sample records are in essence dealing with digital sounds in the sampler's RAM, which is absolutely no different than some little kid playing a trumpet sound from a toy keyboard in Wal Mart. The sounds are just a series of little 0's and 1's triggered by a MIDI note-on event and sent to the device's d/a convertors, where it is sent to your speakers...
I suspect that REAL producers would never say this, it's only the wannabe's who do to make themselves look more important than they really are.
