you have basically said what ive been taking ages to say, in just a few sentences.

haha which is funny because I was going back reading thinking I would just defer to you in the future, despite the hell I give you on here, we see things pretty much the same way.

ie:Things were better when the world was a British Colony. lol
nah just kidding on that part but Im feeling you 100%

the bank bailouts was not a result of bad loans to people that couldn't afford it, it was the predatory loans, often targeting certain people due race, ethnicity, and age, even when they qualified for better loans. this has been shown time and time again. and that's still only one aspect for what went down economically around the world.

anyways, i'm out.

Thank you sir, that is true and you are always droppin some wisdom!

Coca Cola has been a front for the cia for many years.
Macdonalds is making our kids fat.

Dude come on Coca Cola a front for the CIA. REALLY?? WOW

As far as someone CHOOSING to eat at McDonalds and CHOOSING to eat in an unhealthy way is not the companies fault. In fact Mcdonalds is rated one of the healthiest places to eat in America and in the last 10 years have encouraged healthy eating. Thats why they have salads, yogurt etc on the menu. You no longer have to get a Big mac.

The problem with this discussion is people don't want to admit that they are in control of there own destiny. Its allot harder to take.

"Capitalism is bad because anytime you deal in profit making...corruption always surfaces in some form or fashion...The whole "money" system is corrupt so why wouldn't the art of acquiring it be corrupt also."

Interesting, so if someone buys a beat off of you for $500 or whatever you are corrupt and screwing them over?
dont hate the player...hate the game...besides, they'll prolly make millions off the track anyway...so therefore Capitalism continues to screw me..lol

"4 out of 6 billion? gotta like those odds right?"

America creates over 900 millionaires a DAY!

I do like those odds!
i'd bet the farm that the number of people who go completely bankrupt every day in america is triple or quadruple that... how do you like them odds?

A snack wrap wouldnt make a restaurant heathy, It WOULD make a FAST FOOD restaurant healthy. Your "scale" for "healthy" is very...specialized. How does Mikey Ds rank among real restaurants?

He had to search it under fast food or it wouldnt have shown up on the list...its a very cunning way of supporting his argument....lmao. who the heyell says "I feel like eating healthy...lets go to McDonalds!"?

Sorry I should have said healthy fast food place, but I assumed every knew that McDonalds was fast food. Sorry I did not clarify.

The point is that Capitalism itself is not evil. But of course anything can be corrupted. But in itself it is a very fair system.

Not necessarily everyone...

Just because they weren't exactly the RIGHT choices, doesn't mean that they were bad choices.....

i'm sorry, but some of the premise of this thread is off. even equating owning a business and capitalism is beyond simple (i don't mean that your simple) and attaching the problems people have with a system to 'business', muddies the water. if someone states that they think capitalism, or any ism is evil, they are not in turn calling business or owning a business evil. business, owning a business, or commerce/trade/etc, does not need capitalism to exist.

you fail to take into account the barriers affecting people when trying to start a business, despite the statistical and anecdotal evidence showing bias when it comes to loans, leases, franchise ownership, etc that target gender, race, ethnicity, class, and orientation.

it also needs to be said, many economists and experts, or whatever, don't classify the u.s. as the most purest form of capitalism, of course others do, but it's debatable. regardless, it's hardly a true unadulterated capitalist system. question is, would you want that?

as far as evil corporations, or evil done by corporations, throw a rock, you'll hit more than every time. we have a few canadian mining companies that were instrumental in the murders in various countries in africa, to protect their profit.

nestle, is infamous, for all the fucked up shit they do in india, the rest of asia, latin america, and africa. some of which involve babies/newborns and their health. it's one of the companies i boycott (and it's subsidiaries it took over), and this is coming from a dude who doesn't care about much anymore.

ignoring it is like a communist or socialist ignoring the shit that happens in their chosen system.

"even equating owning a business and capitalism is beyond simple"

For sure it is tough to discuss in this forum.

But how is owing and starting a business not capitalism?

"you fail to take into account the barriers affecting people when trying to start a business, despite the statistical and anecdotal evidence showing bias when it comes to loans, leases, franchise ownership, etc that target gender, race, ethnicity, class, and orientation."

No I would make the case that some people may need to start smaller because of that. If you cant get a business loan start a business that you can bootstrap.

You may not believe this but I grew up really, really poor. I NEVER want to be there again.

That being said IF i was a minority and living in a poor part of town I would buy a lawn mower on craigslist for $20 and start chris's lawn service and go door to door mowing lawns for $20 a pop and start working my way up.

No one said it would be easy.

capitalism is a mode a system, it's not that old. business, selling of goods, whether for self or community, small or large, or collective, predates capitalism. it's a system with various models on how society implements and deals with business, capital, land, labour and the people involved.

if they had $20 to spare and not have to find a way to feed their children and keep them healthy. if they can afford to spend that $20 when paying rent, and any other expense. if they live somewhere where that's even viable, which is not a given. if they can afford transportation. if they, or their family does not get hurt. if... a lot of if's have to fall in place. we don't all face the same hardships or barriers even if it seems like we're from the same place.
