Who would you leave it all to?

A recent death in my wifes family got me to thinking about something.

If you were to pass suddenly where would all your music go?
A friend of mine passed a year ago and his stuff went no where, his wife may have pawned it all by now I dont know.

Do you have a family member or a music partner or someone to bequeath it all to that would keep your name alive and keep it rolling?

If your Pac or Biggiie then yeah they keep your name and music alive but when your still on the come up what would you do?

Honestly I dont know for myself, I could dedicate all my beats to science. I couldnt really give it to cats I make beats for as they dont know how to work any of it. Im not really sure.

The person in the family who passed had everything together way in advance, I mean everything is taken care of with the minimal amount of effort having to go into deciding things at this point. I statred thinking about putting passwords down to this forum and others to let people know what happened etc etc.

Believe me if you go early people WILL be wanting to know "What are they gonna do with all his/her music stuff?"

Just wondering what yall thought?

That's a really good question,

I would probably leave my records to my friends who I was close with. Luckily I have a few who love vinyl. I feel it would be shame to have it sold off or given away, and would do anything to keep the music collection in the family/friends.

As for my own beats, I don't know, I think they would probably be kept alive by some friends, but I don't really foresee anything really happening with it all... interesting point.

Grim subject, however it's definitely an inevitable truth, like Jim Morrison said "no one here gets out alive"

Regarding gear and vinyl, I will leave that to my kids, that's my legacy, hopefully they do some cool shit with it.

I think one other interesting thing is the presence on daily forums. I definitely think advising your benefactors to login and tell people you kicked the bucket would be worthwhile.

But really though, I just quit smoking a year ago, and starting running six months ago, so hopefully I can get another five or six decades out of life (god willing)

I'm leaving all my stuff to ILL, you guys can fight each other to the death for my shit. It will be streamed live via YouTube and the winner will not only win my music collection and my beats, but also be crowned "King of ILL, the Almighty God of Beatz".

I'd leave all my gear to my son and my brother, and tell my brother to teach my son how to use it all (if I haven't shown him already). As for beats, I don't really have a catalogue of beats so nobody would get them. Whatever money I have will be left to my girl and son, and (depending on how much I got), some to my immediate family. Great question.

Al my friends would fight over my gear and albums so I am not worried about my stuff being lost in space.

But a few years back... my Dad was asked to pick up some items from this old women's house that passed away. She was a member of the church he goes to. They said we could take what ever we wanted. Man... I roll up into the house and it was like a fucking museum. She had so many dope antiques. I am talking Antique Road Show Shit. She had this picture from her husband's time in the WWII. I promise you someone would have wanted that stuff. Because the pictures probably had people in it that were family members of someone. Like pictures of someone's Grandfather they had never seen before. She had no next of kin so I was kinda bummed that there was no one to pass the items on to. I felt obligated to take the stuff and try and find someone to give it to.

She had a TV with the Record player built on top. I guess back in the day that was the ultimate Home Stereo system. Man... she had all this awesome vinyl. I tried to jack all of it. I had about 3 crates worth. All in excellent condition man.

But then... my Dad caught my brother stealing a gun out of the lady's house. She had this old ass .22 hand gun. And my Dad got mad because we were disrespecting the dead by pillaging all her stuff. So he made me put all the vinyl back. I pleaded my case and he agreed to letting me take what I could carry in my own two hands and I had to leave about 2 crates worth behind.

Sad, sad day man...

Not that sad, you made out with one crate!!! One more crate than you had when you woke up that morning...

But I've already discussed everything with the right people. My brother would be in charge all of the beats...any money he makes on any beat purchases post-mortem shall be split between him and my current girlfriend. He will be in charge on who to sell it to and for how much...
