I just bought 50's album and that guy : Jonathan "J.R." Rotem produce 2 songs on it: Position of Power and So Amazing. Position of Power is pretty sick it reminds me of 2pac's Street Fame. The other one is hot also. Does anyone ever heard of him?

Now thats what I call RAW but real, just like if you work with an artist at our level or underground...no A&R, no middleman to politic someone who has a name only.....just the Artists feel on the stuff he wants, too bad its not always like that though, but I do know a few folks that are in a good enuff position to hand as many cd's to an artist, but in a real label an A&R has to pick the tracks they, "in their opinion" think are hot for the artist project....thats round 1.....then go sell it to the head of A&R and sometimes a staff meeting round 2 (thats why a lot of times an A&R might hear something hot but not a FIRE joint and not touch it because they do not want to get laughed out or rejected from their bosses office)........then after those filters.....hit the artist up......but sometimes there is another snag..........a lot of times in house producers and A&R's at a label are connected pretty well .............in house producers usually at a major label can cleverly replicate your beat and then add to it and make it even hotter or slightly change your hot beat into their unique platinum joint...thats the other side of the house......so for some unknown or little known to have his name listed on a platinum album credits is a FEAT in itself if you know all of the hoops......how do I know all of this.....well I don't personally but I have a few people that work at a label and some other people that have been thru the rungs with this beauracracy and red tape.........but getting at an artists ear that has control and can pick his own beats jumps over that whole mess ........but you can never forget the story of Young Guru and how much he loved Lil Brother and told Jayz, and then 9th became an overnight success, so you never know how you could get on a project....

can you blame them?

for a guy on that level, commercially, to sit there and just say "i want dope beats, i dont care who made them", thats a shot in a milion that nobody does....

You know Cold Truth, just before I came home I was thinking about that samething. I don't really know what I would do. Just so happen a buddy of mine that I hooked up wit had the Cd and he let me hold it. I normally wouldn't, except that I'd seen threads here where people said that the beats where great as in a above normal type of way. The album is good production but to me it seem like they where just destroying the beats with stupid songs and stupid hooks. I honesty wouldn't like that fact that 50 is rappin on one of my tracks, but I don't know if givin the opportunity would I let him to get my foot in the door. My views come from my spiritual standpoint, but I really struggled thinking about that today. As to how much I wouldn't like it, to how I could use the opportunity for my own cause.

I feel Kevin on the whole "letting a wack rapper fuk up one of your beats" thing. But I think when it comes down to it, we all wanna keep our beats in the purest form as we would like to see it used, but in the end.....money talks. I won't lie, it would kill me to see a beat that I worked so hard on get ripped to shreds by someone, like say Bleek, but if he offered the right amount of money.....Sold, no questions asked...and probably no regrets.

J.R. is managed by the same guy that manages Denaun Porter (D12) and Hi-Tek. He's going to be on a lot of Aftermath/Shady/G Unit and Def Jam releases (among others)

most artists that are trying to get in the game would rather go for a shitty beat with a big name than a banger by a no body.
