When working with gtrs and amp hum

So we have a really good guitartist now, and he has a nice amp, lots of fx and all that.
But when I plug it into PT (digi001) I get all that hum that amps make.

I hate it because I end u using loads og plugins to get it out.

Any suggestions?

Could be that somthing in the universe is happening affecting power to the point that we can hear it now.

try using a longer chord and see if that helps. try to get away from as much electrical currents as possible.

a lil difficult when everything in the studio is plugged in everywhere..

Ill try a different outlet or somthing

High gain amps hum, the ones that dont sound like crap. Keep it in!

hmm a guitar amp with PT.. I have a shitty bc rich knockoff electric and a nice acoustic hooked directly into the firewire410 and they sound great. I have not heard of going through an Amp before PT but it makes sense (guess it's like using a preamp for a table). interesting.. i guess authentic AMP signatures is the reason for using it (as opposed to emulating an AMP).. I always thought an emulated AMPs sound pretty good, although I have not compared it to an original.

I know this is off topic but, what is a nice cost-effective AMP to use in a home studio?

are you using an unbalanced cable for the guitar? i have had that problem before because i was using a balanced cable. guitars should use unbalanced.
