What's Ya Process Like

I've been watchin alot of fl tutorials and i've seen that everyone works different and I wanted to see how everyone goes about it with the program. Cuz in the nomics video i dont think i seen him use timestretch and he said he doubles his tempo and i seen he uses mainly piano roll. And on the warbeats site ya sent me to for the tutorials i read one dude when recreating a 9th wonder beat put the tempo at 270 somethin to do it. So I wanted to see how everyone goes about the process
What I do is
Find a sample on record or on mp3

Throw it in audition if its a record juss play the record and take the pieces i want or if mp3
throw the whole file in there and chop it up

Go into fl put the tempo on 90 as my starting point and load the samples in

Use the time dial and stretch my samples to whatever sounds the best be it 1 bar 2 or 4 and 8 if i have a long intro or somethin and adjust the tempo to what i feels sounds good

Arrange the samples in the order i want em using the steps I'm not a piano roll guy but I'm thinkin about it after seein the various videos

Lay down my hats follow with the drums and throw the snares in

Then build off of that and start with other patterns for changeups and the hook and all

I'm juss missin my basslines and like i've said before i want a midi controller before i start throwin those in to get the more natural feel i hate the step sequencer when even attemptin basslines

So everyone juss post what ya work flow is like and maybe it could help others improve or what not

i dont ever use time strecth. i heard its pretty good to use but i rather get da samples chopped up rite to begin wit n jus go up n down in da piano roll to speed up or slow down. the rest is basically what i showed in da video. then again, those were jus basics i was showcasing. (CANT PUT OUT ALL MY SECRETS!!!!)

First I get my samples, I first like cutting out some loops so I can lay out the basic parts of my track. If I feel like it, I will cut out sections of the loops to mess with them. After that, I'll send out one loop and check the tempo.

I then make the the whole song with just the samples but no drums at all.

After that I don't even listen to the song I just make my own drum pattern because I feel like it lol. After that I paste the drum pattern on the song and then switch up the soundso f the drums until I at least like that. Then, I alter the pattern as I feel to the song.

Note: Sometimes with the sample I choose my own tempo and then find how long 1 or 2 bars are in that tempo then cut loops out of the sample by those times and can make deeper cuts knowing they will fit into the alotted bar(s).

First, I load an MP3 of what I want to sample into Audacity 1.2.4 and chop it. Then I save each chop as a wav file into a folder in FL Studio. Then I arrange (play) the samples the way I like them and make a few different variations. (I add the drums and percussion at this point usually). One of the variations will be the hook and another may be a bridge or maybe a different verse or breakdown or whatever the beat makes me feel. While I am doing this it is not uncommon for a new idea to hit me and I might change the beat if I hear something else in my head that might work better. Then I track it out to the mixer in FL and then do some basic mixing.

After that I render it to mp3 @ 128 kbps and that's basically my process. I usually don't play any melodies too much. I am a straight up sample head and I would rather chop and mix than play keys. I will compose if I have to, to make the song sound good. I usually play a bassline. That sounds better to me.

I listen to a sample first, find some drums, bassline. Do a few patterns. I have yet to do a full song on FLS yet. I'm just doing a lot of unfinished work. Just basically laying down the foundations. I'll chop my samples in Beat Creator v3.3 for fine chopping and pitch detection. And I also use the FL Slicer too.

f.y.i beat creator can sample too, for those who dont have it and want to get it.
