I've been watchin alot of fl tutorials and i've seen that everyone works different and I wanted to see how everyone goes about it with the program. Cuz in the nomics video i dont think i seen him use timestretch and he said he doubles his tempo and i seen he uses mainly piano roll. And on the warbeats site ya sent me to for the tutorials i read one dude when recreating a 9th wonder beat put the tempo at 270 somethin to do it. So I wanted to see how everyone goes about the process
What I do is
Find a sample on record or on mp3
Throw it in audition if its a record juss play the record and take the pieces i want or if mp3
throw the whole file in there and chop it up
Go into fl put the tempo on 90 as my starting point and load the samples in
Use the time dial and stretch my samples to whatever sounds the best be it 1 bar 2 or 4 and 8 if i have a long intro or somethin and adjust the tempo to what i feels sounds good
Arrange the samples in the order i want em using the steps I'm not a piano roll guy but I'm thinkin about it after seein the various videos
Lay down my hats follow with the drums and throw the snares in
Then build off of that and start with other patterns for changeups and the hook and all
I'm juss missin my basslines and like i've said before i want a midi controller before i start throwin those in to get the more natural feel i hate the step sequencer when even attemptin basslines
So everyone juss post what ya work flow is like and maybe it could help others improve or what not
