whats the use of having 2 sets of monitors?

i see alot of peoples studios having 2 sets of monitors?? what does this accomplish? i am curious to know why. any thoughts?

A and B mixes. Mixes sound different on different monitors......

i can understand that i guess. i usually take what my monitors give me and take it to the car or a home stereo and try to see how it sounds there.

moving it to the whip is also helpful and as many other places you can as well.... but ive seen studios with 3 or 4 sets of monitors. all you gotta do is hit one button and boom, there you go....... alot easier than burning a cd and going somewehere...

Yup it's all about checking your mixes. Most studios will have a set that are their primary monitors to mix on and everything else is for A/B like Da IllFellaz said.
