Whats good in the "TUBE world"?

Im looking to buy that Presonus Tube Pre for like 99 bucks, but ive read numerous acounts that the stock tube is pure shit - giving the illusion that the Pre sux too.....Many people have said that have bought the Pre that if u pop out the old shit tube and replace it with a goodie yer set. So what tubes are the shit?

That was the point of this thread homie!......So i would like to kno what tubes are good to replace the existing one that comes with the unit, i did my research and the guts inside arent the part that sux ass - its the tube!.....Swap that tube with a good one and u got a unit thats 3 times as much in price.

Anyways - Anybody?!

well that isn't quite it either. generally it is often sound the transformers that impart 'warmth' on the sound (good transformers cost alot more than tubes). If i were you i would just save a bit longer.

Also the new adk preamp (i don't know if it is good or not yet as i haven't heard it or many reviews) has switchable transformers and tubes and shite can operate solid state or valve transformerless or transformer based.... might be worth checking out if it isn't too expensive

If you want tubes I would look at the brick, I've heard alot of good things about it.

I dunno?....Sounds like the "brick" is the goods, but i would feel safer with the Avalon.....Not tooooo much of a difference in price if yer gonna already pay 399.99.....Id rather get the Avy for a little more then.

duece i don't know for sure yet (as i haven't used it) but the new adk one channel preamp seems to be the goods.... street price is about $800 and seems like it could be the cheapest decent preamp (i still would change the tubes and transformer)
i would wait a while to buy this preamp tho cos when it eventually starts hitting e-bay it will hopefully drop in price
this preamp is mega versatile and well seems like it might be the goods
