I remember years ago I changed up the hex codes in the browser so that my different folders were different color in FL. I think that blocked this ability in 5 but not too sure. I actaully increased how much i enjoyed using FL. Has anyone did this before? I'd like to know if 5 is capible of this since i'm going back to FL for awhile.

I actually did... but anyways...

you do have some good sounds with Reason, but you can have comparable sounds with any program anyways...

And, if you thought Fruity Loops was confusing, well, take a look at Reason...
But I gotta say the NNXT (in reason) got some reaaaal good orchestral sounds...

Just a side note, that looks confusing to software cats who never used hardware but for a hardware guy suchs as myself everything in that screen makes perfect sense. I think its casue reason tries to emulate hardware

class....

i just checked what i was doing. I was changing the Color code within the MSinfo Documents that mirror each folder within the: data/patches folder. In the past the information for the color was changable using the FFFFFF or FFFEEE hex color chart codes. But now it seems the info in these files is using a color index and the color index data is a single number. I'm assuming FL caught on and stopped because from what i've read in their forums they don't want us to manipulate their software. So I think we are now limited to access of a few colors that we stumble upon within the color index numbers. If you know another way let me know. I havn't even worked in music in weeks because of school but when i get my classes under control i've be geting back into it. thanks for the info

Evertime I wonder if I should leave FL and move on to some a "bigger" sequencer. Then ask myself WHY...Even if I wanted to change, I'm already hooked on the interface and can work through that program like Spidey works Manhattan. And nooooooooooo, not just because 9th Wonder uses it. I've been usin this jawn years before I knew what a 9th Wonder was. and it shows.... start out with a program and if you feel yourself getting around the interface and controls pretty easy..stick with it!

just get both, it's not like they a million dollars a piece, not to be in your pockets but get both and which ever you deal with more thats what you go with but at least you have them both.

that would be nice in a perfect world, but not everybody can afford both. a few of the people in here are very young and just starting to learn this craft. getting both wouldnt be feasable especially to a 15 year old thats just gettin started. that would overwhelm them. geez i wrote a book

I prefer Reason thats just my Pref. Honestly its all on what you feel most comfortable workin with.

One thing I have noticed though is that most Composer producers that make keyboard beats Tend to use Reason more, and The Sampler's use Fruity Loops More, Personally I do both and With Reason you dont need Vst's its a Standalone Program so as you stated you got all your sounds in one program no need to add third party software. Try both though though.

I'm a composer type of producer. I don't sample.
Therefore I've found the Cubase has the best properties for my type of productions. I use Cubase for the intruments and VSTs and as a plugin I use Reason for the drumprogramming.

Works wonders for my preferences.
