I'm a fruitylooper to the core... I tried Reason, Logic and even eJay (yes...I am ashamed), but Fruity is what i crave. Actually, the reason I'm always on that forum is to suck the knowledge out of all of you so I can finally master that program... I started with version 1... and I dont have version 5 yet... but it looks awsome...

One day, I hope I'll be able to say something like: "Bow down you fools, FL Master is here... KNEEEEEL before him.... (thunder sounds in the background) muahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa...."

Danm I'm really tired....

I use Reason, Digital Performer and the MV8000 for sequencers. I've mastered them to my needs, but I don't think I'll ever know everything they can do. Most of that shit I probably don't need anyway.

Yamaha RM1X, midi sync'd to a sp500 to throw in the samples. Once I have an instrumental I record to cooledit for vocals and mixing down. I'm ready to get some new equipment though, cuz I got these machines thoroughly mastered. One of the dudes in my crew just got a MV8000 so I've been tinkering with that... not sure how well I like it yet.

I learn something new about my equipment everyday when I use it, and my general approach is not to master any sequencer, but to get my ideas out of my head.
I WOULD like to master Pro Tools and Midi daisy chaining, I actually wouldn't mind getting certified by Digidesign because then I could get paid to set up home studios as a consultant.

I have decided to share my bits and pieces; I have been a Reason user since version 1.0, and basically, never looked back. Recently, i've been trying to pepper my productions with a different vibe, by trying out various software applications. I think that i am being candid by saying that i have mastered Reason and really took its features to the next level...
While trying some other sequencers (Live & Fruity), i just couldn't take my thoughts away from Reason (thoughts such as - how would i have done it with Reason...). This is a quite special case of a spiritual connection between a producer (MYSELF) and a piece of software (REASON). It's an absurd, it's funny - but it's just how things are... This is how i feel.
I find myself getting back to Reason, no matter what...
Each and every track i have created (since 2001), has been done on Reason, so i think that i'm making sense, nonetheless.

Many of you have gotten used to the sequencers you use on a daily basis:
RIGOR is a maestro with Fruity, he makes the most amazing ish, with nothing else but Fruity (and a Wave-Editor). I think that i'm being fair when i say that he's the best Fruity-Master i have ever met.
COLD TRUTH makes maximum use of Cubase and its rich features.
FADE has fully mastered Sonar.
MERCURY WATERS has revolutionized Live's use as a complete beatmaking tool.
DUECE\EQUALITY\AFRIQUE are Reason-Masters as well. And the list goes on and on.

I challenge ya'll by asking: WHAT IS YOUR BELOVED SEQUENCER? ARE THERE ANY CASES OF SPIRTUAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR WEAPON OF CHIOCE?

I would have to say I've mastered fruitty loops, which I personally think was created for techno only. I've created hip hop , r&b, gospel, and just about any genre of music out there using it without sampling if you heard my tracks you would think there's samples in it, I've experimented with samples on fruitty; but I don't find sampling challenging at all.
but whatever works right? advice producers: get a book on music theory and learn cords it will your music sound much better even if you using samples

i originally used the mpc 2000xl learnt that then moved onto sonar....
In sonar i have shit to the point where i can do most things i want with custom keystrokes and i have a controller for sonar as well.
Sonar is definitively the shit for midi sequencing imo i would go into detail why but there are too many details !!

i mean i used to make my tracks in reason . but i never really messed with the sequencer to much .. i just made 8 bar tracks and pasted them to cubase ..... . i have not mastered the mpc sequencing yet .. but its so dope to me.. for me its the way hip hop should be made .... on the fly and free... and the timing is off the chain .... the mp is complex in its simplicity

Word!! I'm real deep into the MPC!! I love to transpose notes and move bars around and crazy junk like that. I've played around with Reason. It's cool but for me, rap music is all about feeling and I need to feel the drum pads as I bang those drums ya' know? Kinda' like in high school; me my boyz would be in class freestyling and I would bang on the desk. The MPC gives me that feel. Ash, you said it best dogg, "the mp is complex in its simplicity". Beautifuly put!!
