Definitly sound choice! I always go for hard hittig drums that WANG!!! I would like to improve on my song arrangement with my triton.. I have good song arrangement on FL though because the sequencer is so much better.. I fucked something up in logic a while back where I couldn't re-enable the midi channels. But, the reason I say that is the triton sequencer is bull shit and I like more in depth breaks and flips, and for that u need a good sequencer (moc) or a good software program to do so.. Good post though Big D, I'd like to hear what people have to say for this...

Mixing. Working with the levels to make them sound like a professionally mixed track is hard, that's why I'm thinkin' of using a reference CD to help. Also, the effects man, the ones I'm working with right now are whack, but I guess if I understood how to use the effects more than I could make my beats sound better.

how spontanius my stuff is and the custimization of my studio to make it fit my personality so well, my number one priority with my studio gear is to have it all conveniant so that when i have an idea i can put it down as soon as i think of it. I can't deal with disconnecting this and turning that on and pluggin that into that and that into that and opening this up so i can do this and all that shit, I make sure everythin is able to be recorded as soon as i touch the gear if i wanna scratch the turntable that is on one track if i wanna lay a bassline the keyboard is connected to another track, if i wanna lay drums my mpc is on another track and if i wanna tweak sounds out i got all the knobs designated to the modulation parameters and everythin is all connected at the same time and its all connected to protools so all i gotta do is press the space bar and i'm recording, i've been to other friends home studios and between every track theres a good 10 to 20 minute period where we are spendin that precious energy disconnectin shit and reconnecting other shit and dealin with all these wire and bullshit and thats the part about recording that wears me out and i try to stray from that as much as possible thats why i think my best asset is the conveniance and spontaniaty of my studio

My main for my productions is.

first of all, melody. I always start with the melody. SItting clinking my keyboard untill I get something I like.
Second of all, sounds. It should be real sounds. Anbd by that I mean Piano, Rhodes, Organ, guitar etc.

But a main thing of my production. I can't subscibe it a place in an order of things. Perhaps my biggest inspiration of all.
And that is sadness and melancholy. I drive my music with a dose of my angciety and melancholy and sadness.

The worse I feel the better the music tends to be. / A

WOW I just wanted to see what everyone have as their master piece of their craft and as we all have something that is the #1 and then the weak points that we need to improve on..I think I make pretty dope drum patterns and I can choose samples but I want to improve on chopping and also mixing on my hardware and in protools....I just been split between hardware and software world more in the hardware but i had a good amount of experience in Fruity loops since 3.1 or something and Reason.....I dont know why my mixes most of the time do not even approach a mix I have done in Reason or Fruity loops......I mean I stack all of my expensive good sounding gear up and run it thru 24 track mixer and do all that I know how to do to make a sweet mix I have soooooo much respect for a cat that can mix thru hardware properly and have that shit sounding clear, not muddy, panned......just a sweet mix.......I even bypass my mixer and go straight into protools and then I get that somewhat dry flat sound from the tools.....even though the joint sounds perfect during my playback or while constructing the track...recently (this week I went back to Reason which I haven't used in like about a year or so.....but I took some songs I just threw together to make comparisons......my reason mix is sooo pro...compared to what I have done with my gear that is a blower for sure.....anyhow biggups to the engineers.

I'd say my drums patterns are my perk... I like to use different drumbeats, and use other percussion sounds to add to it... Right now, I'm working on EQing and general effects on the drums only... after I'm at a level I'm good with, I'll pass more time on practicing my music theory and my samples cutting technics...

my greatest assest is making my beats sound real epic like, like a drama or story being told, samples and sounds are similar to it.

what I want to be able to do is mix, all of complaining about mixing, somebody who can mix good should help us out.

melodies is my greatest talent. I could improve on my drums and not trying to make tracks too epic and complicated.

this is going to come off as a bit arrogant....

but i am pretty strong in almost all the general areas.....

i have solid mixing (could be better, yes, but its still solid), i have sound drum sound/drum creation (this ties into my mixing), i have a good ear for melody and arrangement, i have very good programming with my hats/shakers/percussion, i always have a great balance of elements. i have a good ear for feedback- i generally make good choices when listening to feedback, i know when to stick to my guns on something and when to give in and change something. i am good at creating multi layered beats without cluttering them i think... i am good at creating and invoking a variety of moods/feels.... and i can go seemlessly from one sound to the next... i have done some orchestral/film score type tracks that arent even hip hop, i have done radio commercials, and of course my beats.... i also have a few different "sounds", ala just blaze for example. he has his "club" "street" and "r&b" styles..... i have my "organic" "synth" and "cinematic" styles... i can also cross regional genres while keeping my own sound and style in tact....

basically i think i am strong in all the general areas of my beats.... but i have plenty of weaknesses, that to me are individully relatively minor but together make for a pretty big hole.

given my penchant for composing from scratch and what i am told having a very "live" sound to all my beats, i am sorely lacking when it comes to bridges and break downs. that is a glaring weakness of mine, as classic points out ofte (LOL!). the second weakness i have is that while i can create a variety of moods with completely different pallettes, i struggle with more up tempo joints... they are mostly head nod type tracks. uptempo joints have basically been my kryptonite... lack of bridges and breaks have been prevented my compositions from reaching "that" level... and while i mix well enough i am nowhere near where i want to be..... i need to learn more about frequencies and logical cuts and boosts...im lazy in that respect.... plus i need to enhance my keys playing... i have a very limited knowledge of chords and theory.... i use the same chords over and over.... and i am prone to severe hot/cold spells. its 10 beats one week and none the next two...i easily let my personal issues "take me out of the game" so to speak... if i get depressed or angry or sad or hurt in any way, forget it.... i lose interest in creating... very limited digging knowledge...

ok so i
