A producer's manager should be promoting your beats and set up possible sales for you. That's his job and that's where he get's paid. For every possible sale he sets up that leads to you selling a beat gives him a percentage of the money you earn.
Don't let him be your lawyer though. Have a lawyer do your legal business, setting up contracts or overlooking the contracts you are offered. Find out what it would cost for a lawyer to oversee your contracts and include that in your beat price. It shouldn't cost more than 50 to 100 dollars for him to overlook your contracts etc.
I don't know if it's true but I have once heard of a manager who had set up a contract between him and the producer for a beat for whatever price, and then he also had a contract with the label/artist who bought the beat at twice the price. May just be rumours but you can never be too careful...

Good luck.

i would like to have some lawyer or manager type of cat, make sure you dont get fuked. learning the legal aspects of eveything is a headache waiting to happen. i just want to make musik and not have to worry about the legalities.

entertainment lawyers are expensive, $50-100?? i doubt that, sum charge $200 just to even open the contract, and the same per hour. but ur manager also works with the record company..he does just what a manager does for an artist..works to get ur name out to the right people to get u work.

i would want a manager to just sell my beat and take his precentage out of it...its just a damn shame how much money u have to have to start a career in the music industry, no matter what u do.
