For starters, what's audio card are you using ? if you still on a SB whatever then get an EMU farmcard or rip your wallet on a digi002 ( go for the first one hehe ).

How about some nearfield monitors ? A hardware multiband comp/lim/gate a la finaliser or simply a good hardware comp/lim/gate ?

Poeple you gotta get back to me on this. im really going fucking crazy trying to figure out what to do. i got like 5 grand to spend on a studio. I just need some help making a decision. Theres always some new shit coming out. Give me some good imput people, i would really appreciate it. For real!

I know u will hear this alot ,but it all depends on your tasts. Some people like the triton others like something else.

What types of beats are u gonna make. Thats gonna determine what board your gonna get.

I dont think u can go wrong with and MPC 2000XL/1000/4000 a midi controller and a motif/other sound module. But then again i know some people who have this and there beats suck. But from what i hear that is a pretty banging setup though.

I aslo have heard real good things about the MOTIF board. I messed around with one and it was pretty dope.

Right now all i have is a MPC 2000XL and a MIDI controller wit no sounds. But im getting a sound module soon.

Have though about an all sofware set up?? Reason Maybe??? FL studio?? I wasent a beliver in software till i came to this siight. SOme people make some BANGING shit on just software(holmzini,Producer gyal,Afrique,Cold truth,Duce) Its not my thing but u can definalty roll with it.


Basically I need more input on what types of beats your making

Here's a link on gear from ebay for a 5k setup i made a while back, based on a 16chnl multitracking setup with hardware and software, just the whole lot including a nice set of Genelec 1031a's.
